Where do you get the idea that any President, or any government, can "save the planet"?

No, you can't. Because there is no peer-reviewed study that says climate change isn't occcurring.

"Follow the money" is a moronic reply.

Here's a fact: the best way to dry up funding is to declare a scientific question settled. If you follow the money, it leads to the shills at the oil industry, not established climate scientists.

You want reality?

Yes. This is a VERY WARM winter in the eastern half of the United States. One of the warmest on record.

However, the previous two years were VERY COLD winters. In fact, I'd say that it was colder in a place like Atlanta last winter than it has been in a place like Indianapolis this year. At the very least, the temperature of Atlanta last year isn't any warmer than the temperature of St. Louis this year, in my opinion.

Now that that's said. Here's the problem. Weather changes from year to year. Right now, due to oscillation controlled by the jet stream being blocked off from dipping far south in eastern North America, the jet can be found swooping far south across Europe, leading to one of the coldest winters on record.

You're looking too much into the weather of this winter here in the United States without looking at the big picture.

You know somebody can't justify his demands for government intrusion, when he changes the subject from "man's effect on climate" to merely "change of climate", as though it's anywhere close to the same thing.

31,000 Scientists Shatter the Myth of a “Scientific Consensus” on Global Warming
Having worked in academia, I can say with certainty that the best way to CUT funding for research into a topic like climate change is to declare the issue closed, as they have done.

IF they really just wanted money for funding, they would declare it unresolved, thus needing more research.

You fail to take into account the fact that climate scientists' reputations are not going to be traded for a few funding dollars, and the fact that climate scientists who have had their work PEER REVIEWED (the true standard for scientific acceptance, regardless of field of study) all say climate change is occurring, and mans' presence has had a role.

I would not call billions "a few funding dollars". take the federal money out of the equation and see how far it goes then.

By the way, some facts on the "30,000 scientists" who call into question climate change:

The "study" was done by the Oregon Institute of Science and Medicine. Their methodology was online petition; these days, it is called "Spam" and ends up in your Junk folder.

The "scientists" only had to click a link to "sign" the petition. No verification of the qualifications of these "scientists" was ever performed. It's pure fraud under even the most basic methodological review.

The Oregon Institute of Science and Medicine sounds impressive, until you visit their web site. It looks like a Carpet Barn in rural Oregon.

Home - Oregon Institute of Science and Medicine

Some of their "faculty" have been deceeased for several years.

This outfit also sells kits for combating socialism in schools, and for surviving a nuclear war.

This is often the source that global naysayers cite as proof that climate change isn't real.

i have NEVER claimed that climate change is not occurring, in fact i claim the exact opposite. it HAS been occurring for 4.5 billion years or so. my claim is that it is a natural chain of events, and has been for 4.5 billion years. there are far too many things that affect the climate on earth that man has absolutely NO control over, and all of them are natural.

something else to ponder, if man is causing the earth to warm, then what is causing mars and other planets in our solar system to warm? man has nothing to do with those planets warming do they?

the fact is that climate change is being politicized, but it is being politicized by the left around the world. and shills like al gore are making tons of money in the effort. as i have said in the past, IF man made climate change is in fact real, then why are countries like china, india, and the third world exempt from the kyoto and montreal protocols? and why are these countries so adamant that they remain exempt from any climate change protocols?

the answer to that is that man made climate change is in fact a hoax foisted on the rich countries of the world to transfer wealth to the poor countries of the world.

Joe, just like every other global warming theorist, has a problem with the reality that man is not as powerful as some think we are.
