can you actually make an argument that provides adequate rationality to go against this?

Two good reasons;

Obama will fool you and raise taxes on millions of Americans, not just the super wealthy. That's in his proposed tax increases already and in Obamacare.

And our Federal government does not need more money. Obama will just waste more money and give more to his buddies like Solyndra and Warren Buffett. Does anyone really think raising taxes will change anything other than increase Obama's spending?

im fine with increase taxes. as for the efficiency of spending...that is another issue to be address.

HOW is he giving money to people like Buffet?

Btw...willingness to sacrifice for the good of the country's economy can have a payoff such as a better future economy, quicker recovery, and even getting back to pre-2008 with double digit gains...all this in turn will increase jobs, make me more money, and people will stop complaining...

hopefully people are all getting educated to prepare themselves when a better economy comes...

The reason why a tax increase is bad, is not because of its rate.
The reason is that we do not have a taxing problem.
We have a spending problem.
Nearly 60% are wholly dependent upon government for salaries, pensions, and entitlements.
Which means the recipient class can outvote the donor class.
Therefore there is no politician who will dare to rein in spending and commit career suicide.
This does not bode well for the nation.
Eventually, the donor class collapses under the tax load... or revolts.

Until the recipient class ceases their demands for more and more, America is on the path to self-destruction.

Gotta luv that wingnut logic.
What we're doing now is buying a car everyday with our credit card and what Obama is proposing is throwing left over pocket change in a jar to pay the cards off.

There are more but you get the point, the wealth benefit in many ways and take far more than they pay in taxes.

Why not a 20% flat tax for everyone. The rich will pay more.

Do away with income tax entirely and have a national sales tax instead. Tax spending, not earnings.

The argument is you will make the people who are currently poor not paying taxes pay.

hmmm, things like this were said at another point of financial problems in this country, around 1933 in fact. and what happened? we didnt get out of the depression until the mid 1940s.

if we want a quicker recovery, then we need to make the business environment more friendly in this country. we need to eliminate excessive regulations that only cost business money to comply with, we need to simplify the tax code, and we need to STOP demonizing business and the rich, and get them behind fixing the economic issues.
