I'm impressed at how pro-active passengers have become since 9/11. The few times I fly, I think I'd be proactive, not because I'm such muscle or anything, but because my usual job is charge RN on psychiatric units, and it's my reflex to fix trouble (I also know how to restrain, and know that the FA's have plastic cuffs).
I agree that someone screaming Christian nonsense doesn't show a history of flying into buildings, however, they are still off their rockers to behave that way in an airplane and need to be contained.
I am not in the least bit surprised. Prior to 09/11/01 the passengers of highjacked planes were rarely harmed. If you did what the highjackers wanted, odds were good that you could make it through the ordeal alive. The attacks on 09/11/01 changed all that.
You could completely abolish the TSA and our airlines would be just as safe, or even safer, than with their presence. No longer will any US aircraft be highjacked, because the passengers will not allow it.
Christians have nothing to do with that. It was done to stop WWII.
Actually, it was done to prevent us from having to invade Japan, which would have cost us dearly in the number of troops killed.
