Chu to Congress: We’re not interested in lowering gas prices « Hot Air

Quote:
“But is the overall goal to get our price” of gasoline down, asked Nunnelee.

“No, the overall goal is to decrease our dependency on oil, to build and strengthen our economy,” Chu replied.
Now remember, this is the guy that wants US gas at European prices.

So...obama and his "academics" will continue their folly pushing "alternative" energy sources...like wind and solar...that have been shown for decades to be inadequate for meeting the needs of US energy consumption.

Again, oil is abundant, cheap, reliable and has fueled the world's economy many, many years.

THANK oil for your way of life.

Dems are worried, especially those red state dems;

Quote:
Republicans have hammered Democrats on the price spike, repeatedly noting that gas prices — now at $3.72 per gallon for regular — have doubled since Obama won the White House.
Quote:
House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) on Tuesday blamed Obama and “radical environmental groups” for fuel prices and said it was “about damn time” the nation developed a comprehensive energy policy.
Which obama clearly doesn't have, unless you call wasting BILLIONS on "green" energy a policy.

Are you aware the president has only one option to help temporarily reduce gas prices, which are set by the global marketplace?

"No, the overall goal is to decrease our dependency on oil, to build and strengthen our economy"

That quote easily could have come from T Boone Pickens. There's lots of ways to reduce our dependency on oil and I don't see how you see that as some horrible outcome. There's plenty of ways to do that. There's even research around turning coal into jet fuel.

Other than you want to spend all day complaining about Obama, do you have an overall issue with energy independence here?

Nahhh! i do remember under Bush, people bitc---- and screaming about the gas prices, i remember.
This President is not one iota different in any way. Fool some of the people, the smart ones it will never work on.

I watched it on tv, could not believe what i was hearing, so lets let the gas prices roll!
Just more out of our pocketbook.

Let them talk about being less dependent on Oil, that is just an excuse, to raise gas prices! Watch, think things are going to change drastically, when we don't need to be dependent on oil. A wish it is.

Talk is cheap, which is all obama is doing. He is only interested in "weening" Americans off evil oil.

Why?

Uh, yes, because it's the reality. The president has one option: to release some of the reserves, which can lower prices 10-30%.

Facts are facts.

Oil proces reflect the global supply and demand.

Good for him. Why waste time on something he has no control over anyway?

BTW: I found the following very telling. Notice who was leading the charge here? A hint: no one with an R after his or her name.

Release: Sanders

And notice who was, and still is protecting them:

Why?

Because oil pollutes the environment.
Because oil is not renewable and is becoming more costly to retrieve.
Because dependence on oil means we are at the whim of the global marketplace in terms of price.

etc.

You are also incorrect, Obama wants alternative energy to REPLACE oil.

Geez, that's pretty basic.
