I am curious to know what these "numerous sources" are?

I am a woman involved in local politics and there are many women holding positions of power or similarly involved on a volunteer basis. I spend a lot of time working to pass medical marijuana in my state - and that is a more male dominated advocacy group. Environmental orgs can go either way. Most educational and general health groups have more women. It makes sense - women are still traditionally the one who takes care of the home so women tend to be more active in the political realms that directly effect the family.

I find that women enjoy talking politics more than sports. Politics ARE my sports - I keep a roster of candidates and their "stats" in the back of my head the way some people talk about the Red Sox!

Probably because they're smart.

I hate people that always talk about politics or make politics the central focus of every conversation.

A bond is a tax by the way.

Tell a woman it is for the teachers, children, police even if it is for something else and they fall for it every two years far more than men IMO.
Good thing your HO counts for nothing...

It seems to have expanded into a plethora of threads where women are being attacked and defined by men, which is proof positive that there is indeed a backlash against the idea that women can be competent, intelligent, well-informed, well-spoken, strong, independent, humane and self-introspective. There are staunchly Republican women here that would no doubt agree, as this negative perception of over half of the world's population is not confined to a narrower, more political bloc. One post is so completely overt in its loathing that one can hardly respond with logic.
And nowhere have I seen a woman respond in kind; they destroy such misconceptions and ingrained biases with reality, experience and yes, logic. To suggest that a woman who self-defines as a feminist would teach young women that it's okay to be a hooker but not to be a homemaker is so twisted in its conception as to represent disordered thinking. If anything, young women dress provocatively, augment or alter their bodies and permanently damage their hair, nails and feet in order to appeal to the callow image of what many men desire. It's still very much a man's world, even on C-D.
Excellent post, as usual.

The OP started a thread in general US bagging on where they live, which is the same place I live, and hasnt been back to that thread, either.
We must live in 2 different realities, as its quite lovely here.
Draw your own conclusions.
