Well, if it was an "nonofficial" hearing, we should just ignore the whole thing.
Hint, there is no such thing as an "unofficial" hearing.
When someone decide to appear in a PUBLIC hearing you have declared yourself a PUBLIC figure.

Maher was a pig for criticizing Palin. Rush however criticzed millions of women, that is the biggest difference

Rush was making fun of Fluke's premise, and of her voiced need for so much birth control ($3000.00 worth?). He questioned, basically, "how much sex is this woman having." It was a logical question. I wondered the same thing. I thought, "holy cow".
No Democratic congressman has went on the floor and openly championed Bill maher. On the other hand, GOP insiders have never been afraid to show their gratitude for Rush Limbaugh. Hell, Ronald Reagan even candidly wrote a letter to Rush Limbaugh to thank him for pushing the right-wing agenda. Don't believe me? Look it up.
Fact: Rush Limbaugh is a Republican hack.
Fact: Bill Maher is a comedian who provides entertainment.
If you call Maher "entertainment", you have serious problems.
