The way I see it is both the best and the worst thing that can happen to all those people preparing for a doomsday scenario is that nothing will happen and they'll have a lot of food to get rid of before it reaches its expiration date.
You forgot that an asteroid could hit us at any moment on your list.
The scientists do have one on the screen that could hit , but we will probably be all dead by then.. unless you think you will live forever and nothing bad could happen here.
