I think that, when it comes to actual voting, many dems in Congress are FAR more cautious than their constituents.
Yo!

"...lots of lipservice and no actual policy" pretty much defines what I like to see in a government. Let 'em yap. The more they bicker, the less time they have to think up ways to impose absurd restrictions on our lives and redistribute our hard-earned dollars to unscrupulous pressure groups.

Besides -- does anyone here actually believe that politicians on the Left or the Right are any smarter than the rest of us?

I can't back anything up with any proof but I would imagine that the influence they would have would be more with the people running for Pres. right now because of financial influence and their tendency to really bash people with whom they disagree.

I think it's preetty clear they control the Dems. They have bowed down to every one of their demands.

Do you know much about his career in Chicago as a community organizer, before being elected to the Senate? Very impressive guy.

I guess I'll have to concede that he might have a slight edge on me, also, in the smartness department.

But that's troubling. The fact that you mentioned Obama before me makes me think maybe you're smarter than me, too.

The rest of you can just get in line!

It's clear that it does. But MoveOn.org has had control for some time already!
No more or no less than the neo-cons control the Republican party and their leadership.

Wow another wingnut thread with no basis. In fact reality and history prove different. Next time you should actually do your homework rather than taking marching orders from the right wing.

But then again, that would require thinking.

MoveOn isn't 'radically' left. They're just left of center. If they were radical, they would be talking about replacing the Democrats rather than supporting them.

Although they've had a rather successful online mail campaign in getting people to support and contribute to Democratic causes, I don't see them as controlling anything. I think they have an over-inflated sense of their self-worth. As a progressive, I got a lot of their emails for a while and became annoyed with two things: 1) excessive emails and 2) lack of support for grass-roots efforts. I'm an activist in my area and I found it annoying that they would organize campaigns around specific issues and not contact our local groups in the area who were involved in the same issues. Everything seemed to 'come down from above'--an attitude I would expect more from Conservatives.
