Yes, it is a result of the dittohead revolution. Whatever Rush or Glenn or Sean or Ann says millions of people will parrot endlessly, and instead of pursuing some real reading, they will hit the talk radio/ blog crack pipe to get another shot of outrage.
The purge of the moderate republicans is part of the same pattern. If you are not for us, you are the ENEMY!!!!!!! Socialist/marxist/communist are just insults for the small minded.
Funny thing is, the pattern of irrational intolerance, rejection of compromise, and relentless pursuit of power by money, religion, and military groups on the right does smack me as more and more fascist. I would never have said that bout GWB, as much as I disliked him as president. But Cheney and the current Tea Party types (who are well represented on the forum) seem to fit the type very closely. They seem to show no respect for their fellow citizens or the world of facts. It is all about propaganda and grabbing power. That sounds fascist to me. Not saying Romney is like that, but for example the lady who said "pretend it's Obama" to Santorum at the shooting range, fit the type.
GWB looks slightly progressive (and decent) compared to the fascist posters on here at times.
Todays TP and their ilk would elect Joe McCarthy, they promote violence and vitriol using the end justifies the means as "staying the course" to get "their" country back on track. Sad.

I hate Obama too, and I'm a centrist...but I hate him for rational reasons (NDAA, the bailouts, the continued wars, deficit spending etc)
