Yes. The left also has silly catch words and clichés but they aren't as wildly popular as those coined by the right.

The right didn't invent the terms Marxist, Communist, Fascist or Socialist." Those words have specific meanings. The right just chooses to use them as a derogatory term for anyone they ideologically disagree with in order to vilify them.

Fore instance, when President Obama argued that the Bush tax-cuts should expire on wealthier Americans -- a measure that would raise the top rate from 35% to 39%, Stephen Schwarzman, a billionaire on the Forbes' 400 list of richest Americans, said Obama's plan was like "when Hitler invaded Poland in 1939." Well, if President Obama was really like Hitler; Mr. Schwarzman, who is Jewish, would have more on his mind than his taxes rising by 4%.

Great post and this is what is quite shocking to see with the poll results. I never expected to see this many people that are completely brainwashed to think that Obama and others they simply don't agree with are all "communists/marxist/socialists" (though maybe not, this is C-D ) even though they have been proven completely wrong time and time again.
You truly have to wonder if being a right wing goon has a strong correlation to also having mental illness.

Who really owns private property, now in 2012?

No one. All property has been seized by Federal, State and local governments.
You pay a yearly rent and have to ask permission to modify your "supposed", private property.

1935 of the FDR administration was the Communist take over of private property.
It was changed from:
The right to life, liberty and the pursuit of property, to:
The right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.

The turn of the 1900's, Social Engineering, had many names and all nations were getting involved.
The Socialist:
The European version, that Germany adopted, which was Italy's model. Fascism.
Communism, the version Russia, using Marxism, formed after the removal of the Char's.
The Progressive movement in the USA, was to demolish the US Constitution and take the power and freedom from the people to socially engineer society, as intellectual minds, thought was the perfect nation.

It is all the same, with the same results.

The cancer in the USA is Progressive minds and policy, from people that just think they are so smart.

You can't do that... Freedom?

You seem to be part of the problem.

What is freedom, if you think it is ok to tell everyone else, what to do and how to do it, to engineer a society to act a certain way?

What happened? You use to be one of the biggest cheerleaders for Ron Paul, Did you turn you back to him and freedom?

The biggest problem destroying freedom and attacks on the constitution is from right wing fascism.
There is a severe cancer destroying america, and it's the right wing machine.

Thank you. To answer the question, we must understand that the GOP unblushingly supports the interests of the rich and corporate interests. They know they can't win elections as that as their platform, so they must use slight of hand and outright misrepresentation to fool the majority of Americans to vote against their own interests. This is what Thomas Frank wrote in "What's the Matter with Kansas."

As for what BenBow wrote above, if in "1935 the FDR administration [orchestrated a] Communist take over of private property," somebody forgot to tell the Rockefellers, the Carnegies, the Vanderbilts, etc., who sure looked and acted like they were filthy rich after this "takeover."

Your premise that if Obama knew someone that believes in X, Obama must also believe in X, is logically flawed.

Van Jones may or may not be a Communist. It doesn't detract from the reality that he was an expert in the field that he was appointed to perform -- unless you are going down the McCarthyist rabbit-hole that the government can't hire anyone unless they pass a specific ideological litmus test.

The fact is that Obama's policies over the last three years are very mainstream and many of those that the GOP call radical were their proposals at one time.
All wrong.
Van, Cass and Harold were ALL appointed by our fearless leader.
Bill Ayers launched Obama's career! His first fundraiser was in Ayers's living room!

Also to MTA-

These are NOT random, or loose associations, as you so characterize them. These are dangerous people who share a common ideology.
