The NRA Promoted a letter from the Democrats on it's website and thanked them.

Chris W. Cox, chief lobbyist for the United States National Rifle Association (NRA) since being appointed in 2002, had this to say...

Quote:
"Today in a letter to Attorney General Eric Holder, 65 Democrats in the U.S. House of Representatives, led by Congressman Mike Ross (D-AR), expressed their opposition to the reinstatement of the failed 1994 ban on semi-automatic firearms and ammunition magazines.

These congressmen cited numerous studies that proved the 1994 ban was ineffective, and they strongly urged Attorney General Holder to stop his effort and instead focus on the enforcement of existing gun laws.

NRA would like to thank Congressman Ross for his leadership on this effort. We will continue to work with Members of Congress from both parties on this important issue."
Mitt Romney said...

Quote:
“Deadly assault weapons have no place in Massachusetts.” “They are instruments of destruction with the sole purpose of hunting down and killing people.”
Romney then signs into law a permanent ban on assault riffles

Would Romney sign off on a Federal Ban of Assault Rifles nationwide?

You really think that he wouldn't pander for votes and do exactly the opposite?

He is a great etch-a-sketch to champion the opinions of who ever pays him the most.

By the same token Obama is on record as supporting not just a ban on so-called "assault weapons," but a total ban on all semi-autos. But every time this is mentioned Obama supporters are tripping over themselves to point out that Obama has not passed any new gun control laws (at least not above the radar).

If Romney picks a pro-gun running mate the choice for gun owners will be obvious. Joe Biden has claimed that the very concept of the 'assault weapon' ban was his brainchild, even before Sen. Feinstein who used to be thought of as the godmother of the AWB.

Please put down the pipe.

PS it isn't even misdemeanor to own an AK47 in the U.S. even one that is fully automatic under Federal Law.

The only reason Democrats are shying away from a ban is the knowledge that promoting one is political suicide.

Romney would absolutely sign off on a ban, Obama would act no differently. Neither Romney nor Obama are friends of gun owners.

I never understood the NRA and their retarded positions such as the "Stand your Ground" Law we have here in Florida or the ability to own a AK-47 for the average American. Does one really need a weapon that fires off 20-30 rounds in a matter of seconds? I thought that was reserved for drug dealers or for our troops in War?
As for Romney he reminds me off Kerry in 2004 going "hunting" with the "boys"! Maybe he does need a AK-47 to "assault" those 'vermins".
Maybe Romney was confused at the NRA Convention when they talked about the word "fire"! He probably thought it meant to "fire" as in Employees!

That's because he has an "R" next to his name. Never underestimate the stupidity of the general populace.
