In liberal fantasies, socialism works for "duh people".

In the real world, it works (mostly) for socialist politicians, with a few sops to the simple-minded thrown here and there,

just like when the gambler gives you car fare home --- after he's cleaned out your wallet.

No. That's the Republican position.

They don't poop and they really don't like most forms of sex.

Thank you, OP, for my laugh of the day!

For goodness sakes, Can't we all share the conch and Piggy's glasses together?
Best response yet... unfortunately most of the people here (and throughout the nation) aren't even mature enough to consider such a concept. This whole thread is like observing a bunch of third-graders at recess, for crying out loud.

But I've gotta admit, a few of them did make me laugh.

Right, because NO liberals are rich and most don't even work - meanwhile, all conservatives have jobs and none of them are on welfare. Suuuuuure.

No one on the Big Red Bus asked me either.

Hmmm I'll have to ask about that. It kind of ruins the whole point of donating if my political choice isn't being accurately represented.
It's a BS "statistic," which has been debunked/dissected on numerous threads here. I mean, Bill Gates' generosity alone should at least MATCH the total conservative donations.

I've never been asked my political affiliation upon donating either, and many people also give anonymously... so again, that "fact" is really just BS or speculation at best. Usually it's based on which organizations receive the most donations, usually citing numbers from affiliated charities, or tallying member donations from churches. They tend to forget about all the non-political non-religious charities, let alone the other factors mentioned above, and also sometimes go on self-reported amounts. So maybe the conservatives just brag about it more? Fact of the matter is, there is absolutely no way to determine who gives more overall - especially when you factor in non-monetary acts of generosity (like giving food to a homeless person, donating clothing/goods, volunteering, etc).

Could you please provide a link showing evidence to support your 'Fact'? Thank you

They would work together to accomplish much more than they could individually. They would share their food to make sure all of them had enough to eat. They would take care of those who were injured or became ill. They would help those who are physically weak to build shelter. They would realize that only by working together, they will survive.

A much friendlier place and more conducive to survival of all than if 100 conservatives were stranded on an island.

If 100 Conservatives were stranded on a desert island.
Those who were strong enough to gather food, would not share it with the injured or ill. They would hoard and withhold from others. There would be no working together or sense of community.
Yea.

Because we all know the generous spirit of lefties.

This would actually make a pretty good TV show I would watch. Put 100 liberals on an island and 100 conservatives on the other side of the island, both with the same skill sets, and see where they are at the end of a year.

I think they could both survive but my money is on the conservatives taking less time to figure it out and accomplish more because the liberals will make every division of labor decision based on what they perceive as fairness rather than survival and the conservatives will be looking for effectiveness and efficiency. In other words, the liberals will pay more attention to the process than the conservatives who will be more concerned with the outcome.

I also think liberals will choose an "ideas person" to lead them and the conservatives will choose a "git-'er-done" person to lead them. This is not to say both types won't be in both groups only which kind of person each group thinks is more suited for the leadership role.

If getting off the island is the Number 1 goal, conservatives will have a bunch of boats finished, all exactly the same. Liberals will have less boats finished but each boat will be different. You could look at the conservatives' choice as everybody or nobody will make it with our boat design and the liberals will look at it as at least somebody will make it because we diversified our boat making. This is not to say that all boats won't make it off the island, just to point out my guess in how they approach the boat building task.

I really don't think either side will starve. When you are hungry you'll do what it takes to eat. I think both sides will organize some kind of food distribution method. I wouldn't even be surprised if they were similar as both liberals (community soup kitchens) and conservatives (church run soup kitchens) have experience in this area.
