Nothing is sacred?

I don't think "straight" people understand this! This isn't just about "Civil Unions" alone and the "legal" protections it will afford.
This is about self validation and being equal with the rest of Society. Gays and straights have been to Weddings, Funerals, Bar Mitzahs, "Sweet Sixteens, birthdays, and every other type of celebrations!
So a Wedding is more than just a "piece of paper"! It's a "Custom" and a "Celebration" that has been part of our lives.
Let Gay people get married & want to be in a serious relationship and I can promise you the best Wedding reception and food ever!

Considering that homosexuals can have families as well, not really. The idea that homosexual marriage "erodes the family" is an idiotic one.

It's really that simple.

I understand this just fine - in fact it is my central thesis. Gay marriage is not about civil rights - it is about providing legitmacy for a deviant lifestyle. Thanks for agreeing with me.

Things are as sacred as you yourself want them to be.

There is no such thing as "sacred" and "society", as "sacred" is a personal thing.

Civil marriage most certainly is not sacred. None of our civil laws or our civil institutions are sacred. Sanctity is for religion, not law or civil society.

Sure? Whatever?
Why is the government in the marriage business? Something that is between 2 consenting adults? Why enlarge the mistake??

A man got married - he wrote a book - titled Paradise Lost.

Then his wife died - he wrote another book - titled Paradise Regained.
