I don't see how a 30 hour week increases your standard of living. I guess its just how you define standard of living. Some folks enjoy their work immensely and if you took 10 hours or more away from them a week you would be decreasing their standard of living.
If we as a Nation decreased the standard work week from 40 to 30 I think we would do a helluva lot more harm than good. But if your looking for volunteers to beta test the idea, count me in!!

Yes...those direct subsidies using taxpayer dollar are the "free market"
They sure are. These subsidies could be invested elsewhere. But Norway is an attractive place to invest, so its invested there. It's the free market.
Norway has SdWF's (Sovereign Wealth Funds) who invest over here. I don't see a problem. We are in a mess. Pure and simple.
But they still want 40 hours of pay for the 30 hours of work.
The thing is, if everyone is on a 37 hour week, as much of Europe is, the cost of living adjusts to that income. Think about it.
