You want Americans to "wake up soon," but are content to post unverifiable "stories" about the POTUS to support your POV. Sounds to me like you are the one who needs to "wake up."
yep, your right totally

I think if Ron Paul had been younger, he would've kicked butt! I think no matter what "they" did said about him would not have made much of a difference. IDK, maybe I'm wrong but his age was the only thing that would have kept me for voting for him. I want Obama out so, again, I will vote for "the lesser of TWO EVILS". That's a disgusting and shameful way to run a country.

Nothing like making victims of people and preaching as if they have your back. They don't, they are the great manipulators of the masses .. they keep the power for themselves.
Rev. Wright never preached "division of the races." In fact Rev. Wright's church was voluntarily a member of a predominately white denomination that the church enthusiastically supported with their finances, time and energy. Rev. Wright "kept his power" by being a fantastic preacher, dedicated pastor and tireless advocate on social justice issues facing the community where the church was located and around the world. Through his ministry he empowered others to do the same.

Lets talk about what the President and Washington should do...
I don't want anyone in this thread who is going to bash the other side, I want intelligent posts from people who have the intelligence to see what's going on in politics...I want suggestions as to what you would do, if you were President....what do you see going on and how can we fix welfare, insurance companies, prices, what can we do about gas/oil, our military, education, what can we do to make America strong again...to help educate American's so that we never regress to this level again? To keep america free and not a socialist nation...what can we do about all the crime in America? How can we educate those who live in poverty, so they don't pull America down by living on welfare? How can we bring jobs back to America, so we can make better products?

Do any of you have any ideas...

Lets together fix America....this thread is open to all topics on how to fix America

Lets do it....[/quote]

Fixing the deficit: create a progressive income tax at the federal and state levels (my state currently has a regressive tax) and set it at the levels in existence in the 1950's.

Health care: go to a Medicare for all/single payer system so that every citizen is covered and health costs are not a burden for businesses and are not financially devastating to individuals.

Gas/oil: continue to develop high speed rail systems and energy-efficient cars as Obama has been doing.

Education: make college education free to all citizens and pay for it with the progressive taxes.

Labor: Encourage the reinstatement of unions in the corporate and public sectors so that labor and management can have a win-win arrangement again, rather than the current management-wins/gets richer and labor-loses/gets poorer arrangement.

The government does not create jobs that we need. Government workers hold those jobs you have mentioned, but that is only because they are entities that are controlled by the government. Much of those jobs exist because there is a need for them to be done with or without the government having their hand in it. Other than the FBI and CIA I think these things would be better run with a lot less government involved. Another problem is when our government attempts to create jobs in order for people to get paid, but they aren't really things that need to be done. There are government jobs that are stupid and needless and only created so the government can inflate the numbers of them and claim to have created all these jobs that they really didn't create. The post office and teachers positions in particular are really good examples of government jobs that are really %$^@(*& up. Only people can create real jobs for things we need done and I think we do a much better job without the government in the way.

I've posted some of this before, but here goes:

We did not get in the hole we are in, only on the bad decisions of a few people. Nor will we get out of the hole by blaming other people. We will only get out of the hole if first...we STOP digging; second we slowly start filling in the hole, one handful of dirt at a time. It may take a long time.

Just once I want to hear a politician say…I am responsible. For the duration of my term, I will focus on rebuilding America, do it with me. It seems like the politicians have big picture plans, big $$ plans. Instead of spending billions of $$, how about if the President tells states, if you come up with something that works, we will give you $$ in assistance, but you have to make it work first. Submit a solid plan. With many people thinking about how to solve a problem, maybe someone will get something on the right track and others can join in.

Maybe the White House should start a wiki (look how Wikipedia took off) where people could post ideas, projects, get the ball rolling. If one person says, I have work for 4 hours a day for someone, isn’t that better than no job? Yes, we have problems. No, in some instances, people are not going to make more than minimum wage. It is what I started with long ago and I worked my way up. Maybe we could start job pyramids, where25 families get together, with a project manager and renovate a building, living together, learning not only the job skills but the life skills, how to watch and teach the kids, good nutrition, budgeting. Maybe it is a sad idea…but it is an idea, and it may spark an idea in someone who can make something happen.

We might be able to get the unions involved by hiring them as trainers/teachers. Instead of paying welfare, the government could pay salries and Union dues. Something. Make each program have a maximum time frame, like three years and include job search techniques, job placement assistance, etc.

Make welfare and unemployment into something like the American Peace Corps. People rebuilding America, learning, networking, getting on their feet and eventually getting back to work. There are so many ways you can work and learn, even the how-to classes at places like Home Depot, which are free. Instead of collecting unemployment and sitting, put people to work. Still pay them unemployment but find projects for them. Allow cross training while on the program. They would still be getting their unemployment money but they would have more opportunities and local projects could get done, maintenance, roads, bridges, inventories, there are so many places now that can use help, skilled or unskilled but can’t afford it. There are tons of budget cuts for local governments who could use the help but can't afford people. Make unemployment and welfare recipients contribute to the society they live in. I have less problems with my tax $$ going to help people learn a new profession than I have with people collecting money and sitting around. Turn welfare off. Give people a hand up, not a hand out.

Welfare needs to be reformed. No one wants to starve children. But lets start a "two kids is enough" program. You get no bennefits for having more children. No one wants to curtail your right to reproduce but you need to be able to do it on your own dime. Responsibility is a two way street...males and females. Use a condom, ESPECIALLY if you aren't married.

Look into welfare records...if the person is a second or third generation welfare recipient, then it needs to stop. If they have never held a job, it needs to stop, if they have or made 3 or more kids by 2 or more mates and they are all on welfare, it needs to stop. No one wants to hurt a mom who lost her job after her husband died and she has 4 kids or a dad who gets divorced and has custody of his kids recovering from a serious illness...but the amount of people you see on day time TV, news, read about, who contribute nothing while they collect tax $$, has to stop.

If we set up a jobs program and force people to participate to get their welfare cards, or unemployment, there will be a portion of people who are excited to relearn and go back to work...again...hand up, not hand out.

There are people who do not have the good of America in their hearts. Generally life seems to be 20:60:20 (no data link, these are my own thoughts). 20% of the people are over achievers, they strive for their own personal satisfaction. 60% of the people are in the middle, they strive for some things and don’t care about others, they are normal working people who live, are our neighbors and ourselves. 20% of the people don’t care, they will never care and you can’t make them. No matter what your theological outlook, they have been touched by something that has warped them. They will always be part of the problem and never part of the solution. They are drug addicts and rapists, child molesters and the eternally lazy. You can tug-of-war as to whether they can/should be helped for hours, it will not change the fact that they are there. They will not help solve the problems. We need to quit trying to fix them.

Bring our soldiers home, but deploy them on the southern border to do their training and field work. Stop the drugs. If there is no where for the drugs to be shipped, then the source will look elsewhere. People can immigrate to this country, please, we want you here...but do it legally. Maybe streamline the legal channels of immigration and cut down on some of the costs.

There is a story called Stone Soup. Where a man comes into town with several stones puts them in a pot over the central fire and has everyone bring one thing to add to the pot and eventually they have enough to feed the village a stew, where each person alone would have had a cold, paltry, lonely supper. Maybe it is time to get a village movement going to create lives. Maybe we can’t do it alone. Maybe someone needs to bring paint, and someone else boards, and someone else nails, and someone else tools, until we have enough to build a house, and we teach others the way to work, have PRIDE and motivation in the process. Maybe our Government cannot fix this. Maybe it has to start with us.

There are many things we can do to get involved and help our communities. The blame game has to stop. We need functionality, not fracture. Lets put America First...It hasn't happened in quite a while.
