Mitt Romney was a strong supporter of the Vietnam War in the mid-1960s, going so far as to counter demonstrate at an anti-war demonstration. Go here for a picture of young Mitt holding a picket sign against the demonstrators at an anti-Vietnam war demonstration. Mitt Romney loved Vietnam draft he purposefully avoided.
Daily Kos: Romney Supported Vietnam War, Demonstrated Against Demonstrators, and then Avoided Draft

Quote:
In the 1960s, like most high-profile neocons — Dick Cheney, Paul Wolfowitz, Bill Kristol, John Bolton and their cheerleaders like Rush Limbaugh and Bill O’Reilly — Mitt Romney avoided serving in the Vietnam War. Like Cheney, Romney sought and received multiple deferments. Cheney had five; Romney had four. (Like George Bush, John Bolton served in the National Guard, which was all but a guarantee against service overseas in those days.)

But unlike his fellow draft-dodging neocons, Romney has a record of lying about his deferments:

Yes, Romney...the man of great integrity...

But a heck of a lot of people aren't going to give a damn about Romney's background and are very much looking forward to voting for him in November.

Yep, back in the day MR was only one of three draft age kids who had an deferrment.

Why do you thinks so many kids were in college?

Of course if Obama was of draft age he would have protested the war and found a creative deferrment too.

Maybe the NYT and the military will report and award Obama a silver star for heroics and self sacrifice he may have done if he had been there. Hope they get the report of the award and the bestowing of the award in the correct order.

Lightbulb Romney Supported Vietnam War, Demonstrated Against Demonstrators, and then Avoided Draft

Forty-five years ago, Romney had a great opportunity to serve his country in a war he strongly supported. Instead, he chose to serve his church and avoid the military.

Today, he talks tough about military action against Iran. Of course, none of his five healthy sons has served, either. When you're filthy rich, military service is meant for little people. After all, they weren't clever enough to be born into a family of multi-millionaires.

If he is elected and begins a 3rd mideast war, will it be to serve his country or will it once again be for selfish interests at the expense of the American public? How is he really different from Dick Cheney?

Did Clinton serve in the military during Vietnam or was he too busy wearing tie dies, dodging the draft with the help of a senator, and "not inhaling"?

I am sure the same people drug up to crap all over John Kerry will be paid again to give Romney some sort of black-ops, covert war experience that was never supposed to be talked about until today.

Not everyone goes into the military. Fact.
