Texas Republican Party Seeks Ban on Critical Thinking, Other Stuff: Austinist

Quote:
It seems more like a headline from the satirical newspaper The Onion, but the Republican Party of Texas recently published its party platform, a report that - among other things - calls for a ban on teaching critical thinking skills in Texas schools because of its "focus on behavior modification" that has "the purpose of challenging the student's fixed beliefs and undermining parental authority." That's just one of the many startling positions adopted by the state's Republican Party at its recent convention in Fort Worth.
There are tons of other bat**** crazy proposals and stances in their platform, but the above takes the cake and eat it.

Should make them wear the 'Scarlet R'. Most probably won't know what that refers to, but that makes it more apropos.

Geez, being Texans and liking things done in a big way I wonder why they just don't propose banning ALL thinking?

People in Texas don't think anyways. They just do what they are told and try to hide from the summer heat there.

What would be in a critical thinking course? GOP is going about it wrong.
