I think the income tax should be a flat tax. That gives everyone the same opportunity to contribute to society in relation to their income.
No, they would not be contributing the same in relation to their income. The lower income people would be paying a higher percentage, they probably already do but then it'd be even higher
gas tax. Why do lower income people pay a higher percentage of their income on gas taxes then the rich do and how come the right never complains about that?

Okay, this is simple math, follow me.
If I earn $1,000 and pay $100 of income tax, I paid 10%.
If I earn $10,000 and pay $1,000 of income tax, I paid 10%.
In each scenario, I was able to contribute 10% of my earnings.
A flat income tax gives everyone an equal opportunity to contibute in relation to their income.
Jack...you have a comprehension problem...Wealthy Americans earn about 50 percent of all income but pay nearly 70 percent of the federal tax burden...this is certainly outsized. We understand the economy's pitiful performance is making the progressives nervous that their man might not be reelected. We understand the stress that would make you call someone a liar. It can't be helped if the pressure of the evaporating dream of total redistribution is causing you to be anxious. But, do try to act like a man, and not an immature boy.

There is nothing in the report that says the share is "outsized ", just that the rich pay a little higher share of the taxes than their share of all income. This is not at all surprising, it is exactly how a progressive income tax is supposed to work.
But they arent the discussion of the thread in relationship to the CBO report.
federal tax burden
If you're going to restrict it to federal taxes then your argument doesn't mean ****. Tax burden includes ALL taxes not just the one and only progressive tax
Wait a minute, doesnt Obama say the rich don't pay their fare share? According this they pay more than their fare share.
The problem with the old fair share argument is no one will ever agree what a " fair share" is.
