Well. It's one thing to read about how companies have outsourced all our jobs, but quite another to see it up close and personal. I was so concerned about being late for my interview that I left way too soon and wound up sitting in the parking lot for half an hour to while away the time until my appointment. First thing I noticed? Almost every person who passed through the parking lot (people seemed to be returning from lunch) appeared to be from India. I wondered what business in the complex employed these people. Silly me. During the interview, which was with a large, name-brand insurance company (you know the name, but it won't be said here), I asked, casually, how many employees there were in that particular department. About 1500 the HR person said, and then stopped to clarify: " But we outsource all but about 300 of those jobs". He pointed to the vast room behind us and said that was where the 300 'in-house' employees worked. A sea of people from India, as far as the eye could see. These were people managing the tech side of the company business -- programmers, software analysts, god knows. Their relatives (who actually live in India) were doing the rest. Management looked to me (I checked their website) to be typical all American and mostly caucasian.
It was just a very weird sight. Corporate colonialism? Neo-slave trade? Wow.
I wasn't interviewing for one of the tech jobs. But don't kid yourself if you are in that field and looking for work. This is what you are up against.
You are making the common error of confusing outsourcing with off-shoring. They are completely different. You can outsource to a company in the USA, and you can off-shore jobs without outsourcing.
Have you been to India? I can assure you from first hand experience they are not "neo-slaves". The people doing those jobs are upper class Indians and living quite well.
So when I outsource my yard maintenance, that's "Trickle Down Economics working"?
That would depend. If you're hiring an established lawn service, it would be trickle up.
If you're hiring an unlawful immigrant, it would be trickle down.
If you're using government assistnace, it would be trickle me, Julia.

They have maids and cooks even. They way some of them live and for such a low cost.
It doesn't take much to live the good life over there. Maybe that's why so many are graduating college and lining up for techie jobs.
It is amazing what people are willing to post on a public forum....as though the entirety of the audience is made up of Fox News program writers and directors. Outsourcing is economic treason and we need it like we need another 911.
Some multi-national CEOs really love having the comfort of their home base on American soil. It's familiar- everyone knows your name-it's safe and you get wonderful housing...The national family is as such. You have a house with a dozen family members living in it- All is well because Dad started up a business years ago and the whole family is employed in the family business. One day dad decides that making 20 million a year in profit is not enough for him- He wants more- and he likes the superficial status of being even more rich-
So dad sneaks out of the house one morning and goes down the road to where there is a poor slum..He offers some workers a job...He sizes them up and knows they are desperate and in dire straits. Dad figure he can pay them next to nothing...and double his profits...so the deal is cut..
Dad returns home and in the morning he tells this family..."I will no longer be in need of your services- I am going to have to let you go". The family is very disappointed. Time passes and the family slowly goes into poverty...mean while Dad sits at the kitchen table counting his huge heap of money. Once in a while he looks up and says- "sorry kids but I had to down size and I had to cut costs to stay competitive...of course you understand".
Then dad goes over to the stove and starts to fry up some steak and eggs for his breakfast...The rest of the family looks on and he offers them nothing...so they eat some toast and black tea.....Finally the family has had enough--------Dad goes off to the slum to check on his business and maybe pay someone with a steak bone....When dad returns - he finds the locks have have been changed and there is a note on the door...
"Dear dad....we love you but we had to down size and we really can't afford to keep you around- we suggest that you rent a space in the slum....sorry"
That is what I would do with disloyal corporations . I would make them reside with their workers...Why do Americans want to grant comfort to those that have abandoned the national family?

How is it an oxymoron? Explain how what I said is an oxymoron.
If outsourcing is economic treason, how do you avoid it?

Oh, indeed. C-D is loaded with shills, paid by the post. Gets worse just prior to any election.

Yup. Witness the "giant sucking sound" foretold by Ross Perot - 20 years ago.
