If the mods rid these boards of useless content....there would be about three posts left, the 'Welcome to the Board' sticky included.

Careful what you wish for. I'm afraid that it would be quite lengthy.

The only comment I have to make is that research indicates that pornography generally reduces sex crime rates.

JERRY SANDUSKY.

He abused children that came to him via a Charity. Should we ban charities?

What is so magic about 1960? Do you believe that A) There was no porn before 1960, or B) there was no child sexual abuse before 1960?

There were both. But sexual abuse LOOOOONG predated porn.

I bet women in Utah still find a way to buy a nightstand friend.

And I as a kid became enamoured with huge boobs long before I saw naked ones in a magazine so what led to my love for them? haha!!

Because possession of military assault rifles makes shooting rampages more likely, even if not committed by most owners. Increase the number of such weapons in society, and the number of incidents will increase as well. That doesn't mean there should be more restrictions necessarily - maybe the benefits outweigh the costs (another discussion) - but the argument itself is a non sequitur.

Try this:

Most people who smoke cigarettes don't get lung cancer; and many people who have lung cancer never smoked cigarettes; therefore, cigarettes do not cause lung cancer.

See the problem here?

The OP's argument wasn't that porn contributes.

It was the completely unsubstantiated statement "Every sex crime is fueled by pornography, and everyone knows this"

Nothing but O-P-I-N-I-O-N at this point and seemingly not one based very much on fact.

I was looking for your analysis of my sentence, not your straw example. The problem with your new example is that smoking and its by-products have been proven to cause cancer. Smoking has not been proven to be the only cause of lung cancer.

Amongst the younger generation, probably 18-30 y/olds, I would venture that 80-90% have seen some form of porn in their lives, especially given the proliferation of free porn on the internet.

We are in for an epidemic of child rape according to your logic.

Unless what he meant to say is that every sex crime replicates something seen in porn, which is a bit like saying that because every murder replicates something seen on CSI, we should ban CSI and all other fictional representations of murder.
