The US government no longer is in charge of the US military. The UN calls the shots...

This is sad. The purpose of the National Guard is not to go defend civilians of other countries.
That is (or was) not their purpose or mission.

Do we have to spread ourselves out that thin across the globe to play policeman to the world ?
We are the US, not the UN.

Your a little to late....sorry. You buddy George W. Bush Jr. set up a military command in Africa known as AFRICOM. We have had special operators in Africa for YEARS and despite what you think we have economic interest in Africa in the way of oil and minerals.

Economic security IS national security.

Remember, we gotta fight them over there, so that we don't have to fight them over here.

Sarcasm of course.

If a huge disaster hit anywhere in the USA, National Guard troops from other states would assist.

But bringing them back from Africa... and God knows where else on the planet US National Guard
troops are now "securing" and "stabilizing"... would be a huge headache.
