Ummm...y'all do know about National Guard troops being called into federal service and being used just like active duty forces....don't you?

You should. The Guard and Reserves have been carrying a huge portion of our on-going wars since 9/11. Our nearby Oklahoma National Guard unit has been deployed 3 times to Iraq or Afghanistan and our local Texas National Guard unit is in Africa right now, for the second time.

But, then again, maybe y'all slept through the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan and only just now woke up in time to blame Obama for it.

I seem to remember an election speech talking about immediate withdraw of American troops from Iraq and Afganistan and no more wars of aggression... Maybe I was hearing things..

Did you read the topic links ?

The information you posted is there.

The point is... there should not be endless foreign wars fought by National Guard troops.

Likewise the SC Air National Guard was frequently deployed as part of the effort to monitor the Northern/Southern No Fly Zones over Iraq in the post Desert Storm years.

Thanks for proving my point... that if there were a huge disaster in the USA... many of those National Guard units
that would usually be called on to assist Americans are abroad "securing" and "stabilizing" others.

Yeah, remember that time they forced us to invade Iraq over our protestations?

Why would it be a head ache? Stablizing or destablizing? Of course the notion that Africa is really none of our business comes to mind.
We had a surge of millions of illegals crossing our southern border. A better investment would to have manned our border and help the border patrol secure the border. Imagine if we had say 8 million less illegals to deal with. here is a new idea. Lets stablize our own country.

It's been a lot longer than 1.5 years.
Do a little research on Africom.
Facts, they're not for everyone.

Except that the Posse Comitatus Act of 1878 prohibits the President from using the military to enforce domestic law, and immigration is domestic law. Of course it only requires an act of Congress to overcome that prohibition. That is why when Bush sent the NG to the borders all they could do was "observe." They were there for show only.

Congress needs to step up and secure our borders, but I am not holding my breath.
