We quietly just hit a from milestone in Afghanistan. Unfortunately, the media doesn't want to focus on what is going on there since Bush is no longer in office. What exactly is our mission, besides hold out until our scheduled exit on 2014?

Rules of engagement and political games have put our guys in a horrible situation. We are now embedded with the enemy as well, as our guys are now getting killed by the people they are training and trying to help.

Its time to get the hell out of there, now. The mission now, whatever it may be, is no longer worth the sacrifice our troops are facing. Especially with a scheduled date to stop the war.

Hearing from people over there, they aren't pleased to put it lightly how their hands are tied and how quickly the war has been forgotten about here in the states.

Default What is our mission in Afghanistan?

Seems to be about tossing a few hundred billion more down the toilet.

After we leave, it will still be Afghanistan and it will remain in the 14th century, which is where the majority of Afghans prefer to be, apparently.

Time to get out. There is nothing and no one in Afganistan worth the life of another American military man or woman.

To squander resources, get our troops killed or maimed, kill or maim innocent people who pose no direct threat to us, foster hatred, blowback etc. and to provide a diversion away from the real threats whom sit in the White House and Congress.

It's amazing how quickly Americans are willing to participate in these "missions" that no one has any proof of.

Peace!

The War on Terror has no end. It can go on forever since we're fighting a concept rather than a country.

Afghanistan was never the problem..it was those sneaky power mongers that reside in Saudi Arabia and Pakistan for starters. Always follow the money..money buys weapons and supplies..it creates jobs...Jobs for primitive tribesmen..and for common soldiers who will always be looked upon as invaders no matter what benevolence they seem to show.

Russia wasted their youth in the region...Canada wasted human and material resources there also- as did many others.."the war on terror" can not be fought militarily. It must be fought economically...as for Canada's involvement...There was one rule of thumb and judgement...Over a period of a few years I pondered the legitimacy of the effort...I said to myself...If opium production decreases then the mission is legit- If opium production sustains and increases then the mission is fraudulent.

The whole effort has been proven to be a fraud...nothing has changed other than so-called war lords on both sides becoming a little richer... In the mean time the public continues to believe in the bull- "so a little girl can go to school"- woman's rights...democracy and all those other ruses put forward in the justification of conflict for profit- someone is making money here- and it is not the average person...war is business...waged by those who convince themselves human beings are of no value.

It is past time to declare a victory and leave.

If there are any mineral resources worth exploiting we will just have to pay for them like anyone else. Spending lives for gold has never been worth it becaue the guys that die never see the gold nor do their families.

My only thought is to offer open Asylum to any Afghan woman that wants to get her and her daughters out of that hellhole. The boys can stay behind to buggar themselves silly.
