Paul Ryan called Biden on this. Maybe this minor detail didn't reach him either. Will this be another "we didn't know anything" moment??

Quote:
American Intelligence officials are acknowledging that the bulk of the weapons flowing into Syria for the US-backed war to topple the regime of Bashar al-Assad are going into the hands of Al Qaeda and like-minded Islamist militias.

A lead article appearing in the New York Times Monday confirms the mounting reports from the region that jihadist elements are playing an increasingly prominent role in what has become a sectarian civil war in Syria.

“Most of the arms shipped at the behest of Saudi Arabia and Qatar to supply Syrian rebel groups fighting the government of Bashar al-Assad are going to hard-line Islamic jihadists, and not the more secular opposition groups that the West wants to bolster, according to American officials and Middle Eastern diplomats,” the Times reports.

The article reflects the growing disquiet within US ruling circles over the Obama administration’s strategy in Syria and, more broadly, in the Middle East, and adds fuel to the deepening foreign policy crisis confronting the Democratic president with just three weeks to go until the election.

Qatar seems to be doubling up. Not only are they asking the US to send arms, which they have been, but they have been sending arms as well - to the terrorists.

Qatari Prime Minister Sheikh Hamad bin Jassim bin Jabr al-Thani admitted that his country is interfering in Syria’s internal affairs by supporting terrorists and sending weapons to them.

Also, director of one of the branches of the Doha Bank disclosed financial documents substantiating the Qatari government’s support for terrorist and rebel groups in Syria.

Of course, Obama is single handedly helping them acquire their "United States of Islam".

Did the minor detail reach Ryan that his running mate is demanding more help to the Syrian rebels, not less?

Obama should not continue practicing the Bush doctrine. Some people ain't ready for democracy. Two wolves and a sheep voting on what to have for dinner ain't real good for the sheep.

Thank you for pointing that out, I wasn't aware of that. Did my homework and appears he thinks he can be selective in who gets arms - rebels that are aligned with our values.

We shouldn't be giving them anything. There are multple terrorist groups inside that country. Obama needs to stop arming them seeing as how this has come out, and Romney is an idiot if he isn't aware of this.

It really makes you wonder what is going on with intelligence and the WH? Are they communicating with each other? How long has intelligence known this? Did they pass it on or did it slip through the cracks, was it ignored, did it reach the top?

Yeah, seeing how well that turned out in Egypt and Libya, it is definitely worth keeping our powder dry in this case! But Romney is late to the party. Most of the GOP is at least now consistent on this; they simply hate the Arab Spring, period. In 2011, however, they were condemning Obama when he did not act and then condemning him when he did; documenting that outrageous and sudden reversal was the subject of many threads here.

Well, we really haven't been doing all that much, and this is why. Anything we end up doing to hasten the end of Assad will probably be done by our friend Turkey. It's a hard pill to swallow that we can't get rid of Assad, seeing how he's a stalwart friend of Iran and Russia, but it now appears that the alternative actually is worse, in spite of what Anderson Cooper's been selling us...
