Exactly, to say we need to throw out the constitution for that system just ignores history and reality. You need a central authority to settle disputes between the states.

Really I wish we'd just follow the constitution the way it was meant to.

Another reason for the whole scale scrapping of the Articles of Confederation was because the STATES refused to ante up and PAY those farmers and "poor" people who fought in the Revolution because the national government had no way of compelling them to do so!

Newburgh Conspiracy - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Your link says nothing about the Articles of Confederation. Plus, why would I care? My point is valid. Continental soldiers pay was either nonexistence, poor, delayed or deferred. However, this was not the cause of the rebellion, it was their lose of livelihood after the war.

Plus, states do have the power to tax. In fact, the taxes levied by the state of MA played a role in the rebellion. At least Hamilton had the empathy and intelligence not to crack down on debtors. Your argument that states could not tax without the power of Washington is completely bogus.

While I will concede that Shay's Rebellion was indeed a serious stimuli for the Continental Congress to agree to a "constitutional convention" it was NOT an argument bogus or otherwise for the adoption of a republican government. And I might add that perusing through my handy copy of the the Federalist Papers, I fail to detect a single mention of Shay's Rebellion.
May I add, I never claimed that Shay' Rebellion was mentioned in the Federalist papers. Why don't you read what I write next time and respond in an appropriate without the delusional antagonisms topped with logical fallacies.

Shay's Rebellion is a bogus argument for a strong centralized government. Washington does not need the power to raise an army to put down rightful rebellion. Plus, America just won its independence from a country that had a strong, centralized government with the power to raise a standing army. Thankfully, a bunch of ragamuffins without a strong, centralized government sent the British home.

If you want to have a conversation, I would rethink your condescending attitude and your dishonest spin.

I can live with a federal government confined to the powers enumerated in our Constitution.
