An individual who is illegally in this country gets preferred treatment over my kids who are American citizens.
I work in Massachusetts but live in New Hampshire. I pay taxes in Mass.... and there is no way in hell I can get in-state tuition...but let me change my name here, pretend I don't speak English and tell people I just want a "better life"... I might get some sympathy from the bleeding hearts that way.
I'll bet it's cheaper to buy a bunch of one-way tickets back to whatever country they illegally came from.
Yup. Find 'em all, herd 'em onto the plane and poof! Problem solved.
On the other hand, in Real World land, I just want the most practical, doable outcome that benefits the country the most. If you continue to believe in the fairytale that we can somehow find millions of illegals and figure out how and where to ship them, you're either delusional or racist.

Intersting how the story of illegals change over time ...... the original reason we were supposed to tolerate them was because "they do the work no American wants to do." Now we hear we should help them get educated to get good jobs.

I really don't think the continued presence of these 2 really benefits us all that much.

Yet somehow you think Massachusetts is capable of determining which illegal immigrants (who have amazingly become findable now that they're being offered lower tuition) are eligible for this lowered tuition.

Of course the minors eligible for this program will be identifiable. I was discussing the entire population of illegals who you folks are so eager to get rid of. Have at it, if you can find 'em.
By the way, one of the best ways to improve your state's economy is to have a well-educated workforce. Massachusetts has always benefited from this dynamic, since it's home to so many colleges, and so many graduates tend to stay where they went to school to get jobs and start their lives. Obviously it plans to continue doing so.

My guess is if I rounded up a bunch of illegals and went to put them on a plane they're be a whole bunch of illegal loving folks trying to stop their departure.
Then I guess Massachusetts plans to continue its tradition of breaking the law if those graduates are employed.
If someone has a work visa then they aren't breaking any law. However this law seems to allow for illegal immigrants to get in-state tuition.
Just because you are working here doesn't mean you are doing it legally.
The article stated work visas, so not sure where you got this information from.
