I know that Republicans in the midwest did better electorally in 2010, but I don't think that is an absolutely indication of political movement. Wisconsin is not a conservative state. Are there any states out there that with a population that is getting more conservative--especially in terms of social issues?

Texas? New Hampshire? Kansas?

The trend seems to be during times of a Republican president, the nation gets more blue. When we have a Democratic president, we get redder.

That's an indication that we need to seriously look at who the frick we're electing.

The North in general as traditionally liberals move south and some southern conservtives move North the Most liberal states are getting redder like Massachusetts which has a republican senator and the General court gained 6 republican seats, while traditionally read state like Florida and Virginia become swing states.

There is a difference between Fiscal conservatives (such as Mitt Romney) and social conservatives (such as Rick Perry). I would imagine the republicans elected in Mass would be more the fiscal conservative type.

Try Kansas. Welcome to Brownbackistan.

Most residents hate living there. No correlation obviously...

Brownback is a big government social conservative. Kansas just loves electing those types over and over again.

North Dakota. Just a few years ago, it had two Democratic Senators and a Democratic rep for their lone Congressional district. Now it has a split Senatorial delegation, their Congressman is Republican, and the lone Democratic Senator left is retiring in 2012 and will almost certainly be replaced by a Republican. Almost every office in state government is held by Republicans and both houses of the state legislature are heavily Republican.

Also, a bunch of oil field workers from Texas, Oklahoma, and Louisiana have moved up there to work in the Bakken oil field, which is only going to make the state more conservative.

New Hampshire is the same way, more libertarian live and let live mindset. Just total opposite of Massachusetts liberal tax and spend philosophy. As shown yesterday they pretty much had Rick Santorum cornered as an inflexible right wing d'bag while campaigning up there. Militant social conservatives like him don't stand a chance in NH.
