Pretty sad, isn't it? Political realities -- potheads aren't a votic bloc like hispanics are -- trump justice and common sense.
Actually he's accommodating both potheads and illegal aliens who violate federal laws by choosing not to enforce those laws.
I regards pot laws as stupid and something that should never have been made illegal at the federal level. It's almost as stupid as federal laws restricting how long a barrel I can have on my rifle or how many shots it will fire when I pull the trigger. If my state passes laws to allow machine guns and suppressors unrestricted, can we choose to ignore federal laws as well? States rights, after all.
Actually no. Why does Obama and the federal government insist on doing so? AZ and AL states rights have come under attack by the federal government over enforcement of criminal alien laws in those states.
Be specific, or I will have to assume you're talking about laws stomping on federal authority. BTW, states do not have rights. They either have power, or they are expected to operate within the powers of the federal government.

Do you agree that this should not be an area where the federal government should be interfering?
Which area? Immigration?
But, regardless of whether you understand prescribed authorities, the last thing you should do is be inconsistent in that you should actually accept that Obama is handling the marijuana issue as you expect him to.

The gun analogy may not be the best one on a day when there was another mass killing.
Agree on the marijuana laws. It's a rather innocuous drug and a waste of money trying to keep it illegal. That's not even getting into how many lives have been ruined because of mere possession.

BTW, as with the feds ''change of heart'' re: Cali, I suspect the issue will similarly evolve in WA & CO over time. No one much cares about local possession and even some modest distribution, but what gets the attention of the DOJ, is when big time operations (and big money) move in to do things on a large scale, which also inevitably spills over into other, ''less tolerant'' states. That's when things will start to get interesting again!
