I only ask because it seems like there are a lot of people here who are more concerned over the thought of someone coming to take their guns than the thought of twenty children being massacred in a school.
There have already been dozens of school/workplace/spree shootings that have claimed plenty of lives, and no one has come for anyone's guns. From this, I think it's fair to infer that your guns are safe.
However, these shootings continue to happen. Even if you, like me, are a responsible firearm owner, there's a certain point at which you have to confront realities and start a real, legible discussion about how to keep these things from happening, rather than simply spouting off rhetoric.
I was out and only heard early reports on the radio of a mass shooting at an elementary school.
I thought "another young adult who lost it".
Turns out I was right
I was pulling up my driveway when I heard it was a classroom full of 5 year olds. I stopped right there and said a prayer and tears came to my eyes.
I just cannot fathom the evil that could do something like that.
I heard about it on the radio in the car, than i got home and looked at the tv and read "20 children killed" and i was completely shocked, can not believe how deaths there were.
Honestly my first thought was one of horror and saddness for the families and the lives effected by this. My second thoughts were "oh lord the gun debate is going to be raging again" and "the religious nuts are going to be out in mass telling us this is 'god's will' and that he 'works in mysterious ways.'"
I was shocked and pissed someone would do this to a elementary school. My oldest is in Kindergarten so it hits home and it's scary as well. I just wonder why don't these people just kill themselves first...save the heartache for everyone else.Oh and I do think Obama will try and restrict guns but good luck with that.
First thoughts? Thought about my son and how I would feel if he was one of the victims of such a massacre. Then I wished that the guy had survived and that we could make an exception to the "no cruel and unusual punishment" part of the Constitution. Then I'd have liked to have the guy die the most slow, painful and horrific death imaginable. Something so terrible that no sane person would want to risk experiencing it.
Actually, the first thing that popped in my mind was that we've finally reached a new low in depravity. Not even the place that houses the most innocent of our population is safe anymore.
