Now the truth is starting to come out. The kid was sick in the head and his mother had made arrangements (filed paperwork) to have him committed through a conservatorship. I personally now believe that she was very concerned for the welfare of Adam and that she most likely did lock the guns away. He killed her in her sleep (As she was found in bed) after probably finding the key she hid (or thought she had hid) and retrieved the guns.
It may be true, but this is pretty threadbare at this point, not knowing the source in the story and whether he was really acquainted with the family, or how closely. I'm a little surprised to see it posted by somebody who has seemed to be very critical of how other media outlets have rushed stories to the public.

This is a question for the forum: If you had a child you feared, would you go a bit further than locking up your guns in the house in which you slept, while keeping the keys in that very same house? How many more cases of idiots keeping their guns in places where their children can easily find/access them to do harm to themselves or others before we create some legal consequences for their idiocy? In this case, the woman was self-punishing, but what about the ones where the idiot gunowners live?

It is possible that Rightwing Fox News is attempting to paint Nancy Lanza as a responsible gun owner and this case is an extreme aberration of the norm, so the discussion of assault weaponry can go away.
Nevertheless, if she was really ready to commit him (if he was that seriously ill), wouldn't she as a so-called normal gun owner remove the weaponry from the home? Maybe a single handgun on hand to defend against an intruder? I believe Nancy Lanza was an unwitting accomplice to the murders.
According to Joshua Flashman, 25, an acquaintance of the Lanza family and son of a pastor at an area church, Adam Lanza may have snapped due to his mother’s plans to involuntarily commit him. “From what I’ve been told,” Flashman said to Fox News
What do you think the motive was? Please speculate on what you think is the truth that has been reported already.
Doesn't make the point any less true:
Breitbart is about as reliable as the crazy hobo on the corner.
