Sounds like what you're basically saying is that you cringe when white folks use the word ''ghetto'', but when black folks use it, that's OK or somehow more 'authentic'. Sorta like the ''N'' word.... blacks OK to use it, whites not so much.
Which is interesting, are some races or cultural groups more ''entitled'' to certain words? Or maybe the ''sensitivity'' really comes from stereotypes and assumptions on both sides? After all, I don't assume that every time I hear the word ''redneck'' or ''cracker'', that they're talking about me (even if it might be kinda accurate sometimes... LOL)!

ummm...no. Actually what i said was people not from the ghetto using the word so freely when they probably dont know what it means. you interpreted that as whites using the word, and you interpreted the people who could use the word as black people. i actually didnt mention race, but thank you for proving my point!
I dont even like it when affluent black people use it so quickly when one of their own is acting in a way they dissapprove of. and in the same way, if i hear a white person say it, i can tell if it is natural or if they are just trying to be "cool", same with the N word.
Ghetto was first used to describe the areas where the Europeans that emigrated to the U.S. in the 1800's, and early 1900's were forced to live. The ghettos were made up of Jewish, Italian, Irish, German etc. immigrants. This was before the mass exodus of Black people moving from the South to the Northern states for jobs. When Black people began arriving in those areas, the Whites moved out. White people do not like to be in majority Black environments period. Never have, and never will. Ethnic Whites were eventually able to merge into the American White majority population.

Nothing sillier or sad than listening to a couple of middle-class, white teenage girls sitting at the Food Court in the Mall drinking their $5 cup of Starbucks skinny-mocha-latte-grande-frappe and using such terms as "ho" and "sup" and "dawg" and "ho snap" and "fer shizzle."
Twits like this need to spend some real time in the hoods so they can appreciate their socio-economic opportunites, and not revel in the idioms of the less-fortunate. Which, as you mentioned yourself, makes them laughable and far from cool in the view of real hood people.
(I'm a white, middle-class dude these days, but I grew-up poor, in East Palo Alto, CA. So I too am constantly amazed at how the kids today seem to glorify ghetto life and its attendant customs and parlance.)

What we've got here is failure to communicate. Some men you just can't reach. So you get what we had here last week, which is the way he wants it. Well, he gets it. I don't like it any more than you men.

What I hate the most about it is that "ghetto" is a place, not the behavior of a person. You might live in the ghetto, but you can't be "ghetto.". You can't be a place.
Call out the behavior: She's loud/obnoxious/mean/vulgar/aggressive/crazy/,etc, rather than assigning a label that doesn't even make sense.
How does one act like a place?
Would you say 'She's "trailer park"?
Would you prefer if all us out there in the subburbs just pretend such nastiness doesn't really exist?
Of course not. Know why? Because such nastiness exists in the suburbs too. Often.
Sorry, but every suburb isn't nice. Far from it.
