What a joke. First you cite Democratic Underground as a source, that's like going to the KKK for race relation information. Then you dig up something from nearly 20 years ago as if it has any relevance today. GHW signed several pieces of gun control legislation, he wasn't exactly a big supporter of the NRA or 2nd amendment in the first place.
The problem with NRA is that they are waaaaayyyy too political. I stopped paying my membership fees when they started flooding my mailbox with all kinds of political propaganda about US citizens rights being under the worst attack EVER in US history. Seriously, it is not possible that every month is the worst in US history. It is simply not believable.
Did Lapierre really make that statement, in fairness to the NRA it sounds kind of phoney.
Quote:
"I was outraged when, even in the wake of the Oklahoma City tragedy, Mr. Wayne LaPierre, executive vice president of N.R.A., defended his attack on federal agents as “jack-booted thugs.” To attack Secret Service agents or A.T.F. people or any government law enforcement people as “wearing Nazi bucket helmets and black storm trooper uniforms” wanting to “attack law abiding citizens” is a vicious slander on good people

I agree. No one in a public/well known position could say something as honest and truthful as rightly calling federal agents jack booted thugs in this day and age.
