Given that the president is a surrogate king, 11 armed guards is nothing - it's not too difficult to imagine an alternate course of history which would have entitled the president's children to an escort of Household Cavalry and the formal address "Your Highness".

Honestly, I can't see how the President can advocate AGAINST armed guards in public schools when his own daughters are protected this way. He's not a stupid man, so my only conclusion is that he's an elitist and a hypocrite. Shameful.
An elitist is someone who perceives he has special rights. The president of the US does in fact have special rights.
Yes. They're just like all the other kids don't ya know ?
No, they're not. They get Secret Service protection by federal law. 18 USC 3056. Look it up. Don't like it? Ask your congressman to change the law. I'm sure that will be popular with the majority of voters who elected their father President. Twice.
Note the article clearly states: " And Ellis Turner, associate head of Sidwell Friends, told us emphatically: “Sidwell Friends security officers do not carry guns.” (Note: this includes those listed as special police officers.)"
I guess we should take this thread as just another refusal by the whiny righties to let facts interefere with their pissant little whines, eh?
So, let me get this straight...now the outrage is over Sasha and Malia getting Secret Service protection?
Read the thread. I don't have a problem with their secret service protection. Not at all. Nor do I have a problem with Sidwell having security guards. Not at all. My problem is the President's hypocrisy speaking out against all schools having security.....while his kid's school DOES- and I'm not talking about the Secret Service protection.
Is this thread about school security, or a Liberals vs. Repubs bashing match? Is it trying to say that Obama is being elitist, and if so are we to believe that he is first Highest Official in the country to ever garner special treatment, as if that should not accompany his CIC status?
