for sure it is because these children have not earned their money.

They are collecting a form of welfare and are just as idle as the intentionally unemployed.

why should they be let off the hook when all their wealth has come from the sweat of the working man?

this is just the same logic as the poor-bashers use though.

ie: why should someone get welfare when I have to work.

Same thing, other way around.

so why should these rich kids be able to lord it over the common man, without ever doing a day's work?

How many of them chose so poorly a mate that they ended up with a wife-beater, drug addict or alcoholic? How many of them chose so poorly that their "husband" is incarcerated or were killed committing a crime or due to a criminal lifestyle?

Yes, there are legitimate reasons to be a "single mom", but many are simply due to poor choices. Are we supposed to financially support someone elses mistakes? Is that what you are saying?

Until the 1930s and 1940s there was no welfare or food stamp program in this country. We existed and thrived and prospered as a nation for neigh on 160+ years without providing these kinds of programs for our population. Yes, some suffered for it. But many of the "disadvantaged" people found ways to earn the money they needed or they learned to do without. This is how you instill a sense of motivation and the entrepreneurial spirit into people so that they grow and learn and create opportunities for themselves and for others. Henry Ford came from a poor family as did many early businessmen. They CHOSE to earn the money as a way out of poverty for themselves and their families. THey did NOT accept a hand out.

We are creating multiple generations of people who are INCAPABLE of even trying to earn their own way, and that is truly frightening.

It seems that you can't comprehend very simple statements. The gist of what I was saying about single moms and subsidized daycare is that, IT SAVES US A LOT OF $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$.

Would you rather permanently "Financially support someone else's mistakes" or by creating well designed and well delivered social systems, create taxpayers that will be net contributers to the tax base not takers.

Since most of these you call, "someones mistakes", are children then NO I don't have a problem at all in making sure they grow up advantaged. I don't want American, "Ghetto scenes" in my country.

I also suggest that you see American history through rose coloured glasses at best or are completely ignorant about how much suffering and degradation the American worker has gone through during those good old days you spout on about.

ok, so why is an unemployed person routinely called 'lazy, scrounging, welfare queen', but one of these Walton types is not?

and not only that, but how about the low paid worker - someone at MacD's who works full time, yet still has to rely on assistance and be called a scrounger - at least they have a job!

but the Walton types have not earned their money and have way more than most people, so what makes this right?

The Walton family fortune has has been earned with public subsidies in that Walmart pays its workers substandard wages so that they are forced to rely on public assistance like food stamps. So in effect the taxpayer is paying part of these workers' wages to allow Walmart ever bigger profits.

Also Walmart receives many many tax breaks from state and local governments.

Because no one is taking money out of your check by force and handing it to them. You may be willingly handing it over to them when you purchase something from their store but that involves choice on your part.

But that man's income has already been taxed, why tax it again?

quite simply, because they are idle and do not work.

Everyone should make a contribution to the country, a contribution in blood, sweat or tears.

what have these folks done?
