A big recession is headed your way.

When some of you lefties are laid off because businesses can't afford to keep you, remember....YOU supported these tax hikes on the very people that support your business.

Thumbs up take actiion!

Go into those wealthy areas and buy lots of baubles from those boutiques.

It's your patriotic duty to save those shops.

There aren't many of these...small business owners who live in wealthy areas usually operate their businesses in NON-wealthy areas. There is an old cliche to the effect of "people who sell to the classes, live with the masses...those who live with the classes, sell to the masses". (I read that in Millionaire Next Door or a similar book.)

I have relatives living in a wealthy (top 2%) area...they own a camera/photo shop in a nearby big city, and a large nationwide mail-order operation (not affected by their wealthy area economy)...their next door neighbors own a trucking firm (not affected by their wealthy area economy)...others own a local trash disposal business (that's fairly recession-proof)...across the street they own some dry cleaning operations (okay, that might be affected somewhat but even that is fairly recession-proof).

NONE of these people are going to lose their shirt.

The USA won't go into a recession, that is unless the GOP decides that the debt ceiling shouldn't be raised or they scare the market with their actions regarding the debt ceiling.

I was a small business owner in a wealthy area for 16 years, and no way would I have ever been subject to an increased tax on the rich. Truly small business owner reported income is mostly less than the threshold. Small business owners can evaluate their tax status in early December and do things like purchasing new equipment, vehicles or even give employee bonuses before 12/31 to avoid the top tier.

This will affect the upper management in big companies like executives of Microsoft, Boeing, Starbucks and Amazon in our area, (on W-2s) and will not affect the business, just their personal wallets.

As well as high dollar, small business law firms.

Because wealthy people are going to shop at dollar stores because their tax rate is increasing several percentage point?

No, but they will have fewer dollars to spend locally.

I can't for the life of me understand why anyone would continue to push for higher tax rates to send more money to a wasteful, bloated government.

I guess that envy and revenge against successful people is the main driver.

You know I went to England twice, I wasn't expecting it to be like what Hannity or Limbaugh say it is, a place full of soulless people who live with crushed dreams all because of high taxes and burdensome regulations. You know what I saw instead? More small businesses in full swing than I ever did in the US. If high taxes and regulations are so job killing and soul crushing, why are there more small businesses in England than American suburbia? Restaurants there charge about £7 or £8 for a main, here it's about the same, yet they actually pay their waitresses since tipping is not expected there
