this guy was talking about the Earned income credit. Some people I know get 2500 per child.

Yes, a lot of people do get a big pile of EITC cash especially if they have two or more kids. The state property tax rebates are generally small change but the federal tax deductions can be worth several thousand (or more) to homeowners in higher tax brackets with large new mortgages. The benefits of the mortgage interest deduction flow overwhelmingly to high-income homeowners with big fat mortgages; most homeowners get little or no benefit.

Reduce welfare but increase min wage at the same time - that is the answer.

I don't know of any state where a person can receive $5000 in actual cash payments from the government. If they are able to do this, I can assure you it's not from food stamps or TANF, it's from some kind of disability or social security payment.

Yes, if min wage were increased there would be much less of a need for welfare.

Couldn't care less. I'm not changing my assertion.

If you're working your ass off everyday and you live worse than people on welfare, you're a dope. Period, point blank.

No you didn't. Stop it.

I just don't understand why you guys feel the need to make stuff up to prove your points.

Those are cases of EXTREME fraud and nowhere near being the norm. That's why they made the news.

Most of the people on welfare are the working poor. The vast majority of them work.

Also the grossly inflated claims the right wing makes up about how much welfare pays are all lies.

the working poor should be paid higher so that they don't need welfare, how obvious is that?

People on welfare make about 57K with all the freebies they get.
Yes. It's time to end corporate welfare, and welfare paid to farmers. Eliminating those welfare payments and the national debt will be substantially reduced.
