Federal database on gun deaths? VP Biden may be surprised to learn about an organization called the CDC that does this. See also the FBI's annual UCR.

"Closing the gun show loophole" is, and always has been, code for eliminating private sales. This is a de facto big step towards universal registration.

We already have background checks. Years ago I bought an assault rifle from a third party and had to go to a gun store to get it registered in my name. Background check again. Whats sad is I sold it( gun store) when Clinton was talking gun ban and was afraid I'd lose it due to it being made illegal. I liked that gun and wish I still had it. Now I might buy one again just for spite.
So Obama wants to do whats already in place. With Obama, doing nothing is doing something.
Buy a gun, background check. Get a license to carry, background check. Already got it. If Obama would worry more about his Attorney General supplying guns to mexican criminals and less about lawful citizens owning them we'd be better off.

The purchaser of a gun from any source should require federal registration of some sort or the transaction should be illegal. However, that doesn't and will not eliminate the problem of illegal sales. Those who want guns will find guns. The controls should be on the manafactur and/or importation. Shut down or restrict/register more carefully the supply. It's easier to do that than try to regulate tens of millions of individuals. A total ban on assault weapons and ammunition used for them should be put in place, by executive order if the Congress refuses to act. Local, state and federal government should enforce the laws already on the books and the Courts should dole-out appropriate punnishment for law-breakers. Keep new laws to the minimum.

Fast and furious, our government will get them to us

We've all seen the stats and know assault weapons are near the bottom of the list of murder weapons. Get off the assault weapons kick, its not an issue. My sub compact pistol also has 30 round mags. Tape two of those together and two more in the back pocket and I can unload 121 round in under a minute. anybody can mod a standard mag too and make a high cap mag. Or just go buy one, ban them, and Ill be able to sell mine for 4 times as much

Background checks, yes, firearm registration, NO. None of mine are registered and will never be.

Every recommendation you have will not solve any problems. All you did was make it harder for the good folks to protect themselves.
