There should be a differentiation between middle class and poor people? How dare these sub-humans think themselves to be humans!! I guess if children start starving to death and dying in the streets, it's fine with you. As long as they aren't on the government's teat, like the wealthy and the government workers themselves (legislative, executive, judicial) I guess they are the only ones who should be able to squeeze money out of the tax payers.

Also, how do you all who are against government assistance because of the fraudlent claims that have happened and the loss of money, how do you plan to determine who goes on the program and who does not. What is your solution to cut the 1% fraud and deceptiveness down to 0% or 0.1%?? All I am hearing is bytch bytch bytch bytch, whine, whine, whine, then bytch bytch some more, without a solution. What is the solution?
Think Dickens - send them to Victorian-style workhouses. Make the poor WORK for their bowl of gruel, and there will be NO seconds!

I wonder what life would be like right now if only a few million people could get Food Stamps vice the 40 million now receiving Food Stamps.

Food stamp fraud raising concerns in gov't offices - Yahoo! News
I'm getting my information from personal experience. I've lost my card twice and both times went into the local office and told them. They asked for my name and birth date and then pulled up my case file on the computer and cancelled the card right then and there. And then they issued me a new card with the same balance I had left on my old card.

There is just no way to say you lost your card and hope to get that card filled as it is every month. If you get $300. and spend $200 and say you lost it, they are not going to give you a replacement card with $300 on it, you will get the remaining $100.

I admit I have never had my card stolen, so I don't know how they would work that. I think they would have to treat it the same as being lost. It's the card holder's fault, not the governments.

Fraud happens when someone offers their card to someone else to use for 50 cents on the dollar. No picture ID is needed in most places; just knowing the PIN is all that is needed to use it.

Maybe the solution to food stamp fraud is to put pictures on the actual card and make us hand it to the cashier for verification.
But then the people behind us would just get upset because we are slowing down the line.
That is, after they get done bitching about the cart full of junk food being paid for with food stamps!

Did you ask them who they supported in the election? Considering there are just as many (if not more?) Republicans on SNAP & welfare as Democrats, I assume you're just talking from your butt here. And why are you so nosy? I don't take the time to study other people's shopping carts, nor do I look at how they pay - and since SNAP comes in the form of a debit card these days, you'd have to be looking REALLY closely to know it was a SNAP card. Mind your own beeswax, get yourself some help (or a better job) if you're struggling that hard, and protest with your votes. You don't know this family's story, so it's rather presumptuous and rude to judge them individually.

P.S. This thread is nothing new; we have people whining about FS recipients on a regular basis here, and yet nobody ever seems to come up with a solution or plan. Go after the big cheeses & policies, not some poor family who's simply using the help provided to them for a reason.

You say your not a meat eater, so then why are you angry when you see them buying ribs and steaks ? It's food is it not ? Would you rather them eat scraps ? Do you know how expensive food is in this country right now ? I try my best when I go food shopping to get the fresher ingredients and you know what ? Healthier food is much more expensive than junk, perhaps we as a country need to look into why is this ? Why is it that even though our government is giving subsidies to many of these big AG and big dairy companies how is it everything is still so expensive ??
YES!!! I've been saying this (the bolded sentence) for years, and I think it's a much bigger issue that needs to be discussed... when people can get a McDonalds Big Mac meal for $4, while a salad and fresh sandwich costs $10+ elsewhere, what do you think the less fortunate will choose? Explains why we're one of the few countries where our poor people are fatter than our rich.

First of all as said I before...I "DON'T" have a problem with helping disabled vets, handicap or anyone down on their luck due to unforeseen circumstances such as illness or whatever.. I "DO" have a problem with people abusing the system like going hog wild purchasing top cut meats, junk food, manicures, tattoos and "PORN"...you want to support those type of people fine...however do it on your own dime "NOT" mine....

And as for study other people's shopping carts...its pretty hard not to notice when husband and wife are each pushing a cart
stacked with meats and junk food along with their 6 children..

How I do I know they were Obama supporters...Well when one is wearing the infamous Obama jacket it doesn't take Sherlock Holmes to put two and two together...but i'm sure when they went into that voting booth they were quick to pull that Romney lever!!!

When it comes to collective taxes, there is no "your dime" vs "my dime." We all pay into the same bank, and how that money is later used is none of our business... all you can do is vote for the policies & politicians who support your positions, and whine about it like you're doing here. Oh, I guess you could also protest by not paying taxes, or go on SNAP yourself. Pick one.

And how this individual votes is a moot point, since you were trying to claim this was "typical of Obama supporters." So unless you can prove the Republican FS recipients are only purchasing what you consider acceptable items (what, like block cheese and plain oatmeal?), I still say you're speaking from your butt on that one.

You know what I say to that "F U"...
Abuse and fraud are one thing, buying what you have personally deemed "luxury groceries" are another. Was this family committing fraud? If so, how do you know that?

How did what you witnessed at the grocery store constitute "fraud"? You may not agree with the program, and you can whine like a little baby, but that doesn't make it fraud when somebody uses the program to purchase eligible items with their EBT card.
