Having a gun in your home becoming a NECESSITY shows how awful and impotant our gun laws are here.

Default More training suggested

I suggest anyone keeping a gun for self defense get some effective training on when and how to do it.

You could start with: Never pull a gun on someone you are not going to shoot. Make the decision to kill the assailant before you get your gun. Then kill him a quickly as possible.

Stupid thread.

Those people made the choice to own a gun, if they can't handle it, that's their problem.

But since you care about them so much, we should take their guns, right? To protect them from themselves.

some more interesting facts that need to be pointed out since our internet buddy wants us all to feel threatened by "guns"

you are more likely to be beaten to death with the hands of another person than you are to be killed by your own gun. Either by accident of having a bad guy take it away from you.

beaten to death 728 (2011)
killed by accident 659 (2007)

Not exactly 1 to 1 but very close.

We better make sure we take guns away from the police for their own safety. We wouldn't want them getting shot with their own guns now, would we?

I guess one person shooting herself with her own gun while the bad guy was wrestling with her, invalidates the dozens of times when a resident shoots the bad guy and ends the crime with no injuries to innocents... or the hundreds of times a resident drove off bad guys without firing at all... or the thousands of times some hoodlum thought about committing a crime but changed his mind when he considered the possiblity of getting shot by an armed victim.

Yep, your point that law-abiding people shouldn't have guns even when bad guys often do have them, is completely valid.

Ok OP did you even read the damn article you posted and watch the video. It was a split second decison and she fought off her attackers with the gun going off several times during the fight. She's beating the crap out of one of the scum bags and the gun is spraying bullets everywhere thats when they took off.

I'd say if she didnt have the gun she probably would have been raped and or killed as well as who know what would have happened to the kids.

OOPS thread fail next time read the article you attach to make your point.

These types of situations happen a lot of the time, but gun nuts don't care about reality. They are interested in their fear and their fantasies of being a hero and/or killing people.

Normal people see the connection between buying a gun and the end result being that gun hurting someone in your household. To gun nuts those incidents are invisible or fiction.
