Surrounding China with a U.S. military presence is quietly going on to the point that China is now getting very nervous. However, you don't hear about this in the American media.....

Besides, you should be old enough to recall when the US had a real presence in the Phillipines. That was before that volcanic eruption that closed down Clark Air Force Base and the Navy Base at Subic Bay. Back then, there were many multiples of those numbers based there.

Those "bottle rockets" as you say are made by a space capable power that that can hit pretty much anywhere in the west coast at least and have been able to since at least the 1980s. It has lots to do with sane people. It is very simple China has nuclear weapons. These nuclear weapons are pointed at the US. Therefore we will not fight them.

Our missile defense is far from laughable. It is the best in the world, despite lacking 100% guaranteed ICBM defense capabilities.
