Not if you have to borrow that money, to pay someone...
They sell T-bills with such low interest rate (because there is such a demand for T-bills due to their safe haven status with investors) that they effectively have a net negative interest rate. Do you even know what that means?
Unless you live in a decent sized city, there is no city bus service. What then?
<yawn> More excuses.
I must not have gotten the memo outlining that the taxpayers are on the hook to provide the poor with food, housing, cell phones, internet service, cable TV, transportation, etc. Let's be sure we make things as comfortable as possible for these folks because God forbid, we don't want to inconvenience them.

Move. The more affordable housing is also along the city bus routes. No one makes you live way out in the sticks and if you can't afford food and transportation, then pick the food and live where you can catch a bus to the welfare office.
Which is why making sure that people have access to birth control is critical, because telling adults to not have sex doesn't work.
I think sterilization would be a lot more affordable if you're saying the taxpayers have to pay for their fun sex. Tubal ligations and vasectomies are a one time cost and work pretty well.
The GOP held the White House, congress and the supreme court.
In 1994 when Clinton rewrote the CRA and Countrywide inked a deal with HUD to approve low-income, high risk, alternative documentation loans? Um... NO. Clinton in the White House and the Democrats controlled both the House and Senate. Look it up.

The No/low-income get free birth control from Medicaid, the schools, county health departments, etc. How much more accessible can you get than free distribution from multiple sources?

If so, shouldn't our national debt be declining? After all, the government should be able to borrow at that net negative interest rate.

Yes, the problem isn't that the welfare types can't get birth control because they very easily can but they won't get bigger free housing and more food stamps if they use birth control. They're being rewarded for having babies they cannot afford.
It is easy getting free birth control but I guarantee the people abusing the system don't want to limit their kids because it means less money. The ones using birth control are those who are responsible and might be working (or temporarily unemployed).

You make it seem like living in poverty is going to give you some great lifestyle and that is simply not true. Each society has a duty to their citizens
Housing? Good luck even getting on the waiting list. Most cities have waiting lists that have been closed for years. Every now and again they will open up, but usually only for a few hours or weeks at a time.
Food? This seems like the least that can be done for someone. Why in the world would we want to live somewhere that lets kids starve?
Transportation? This is largely funded by donations and charities. There are some government programs designed to help people get cars, but they are pretty small programs. You can't criticize someone saying they should sell their car before they accept food stamps and then say it isn't your problem if they don't have transportation. I don't care hwat your stance is, but I do want some consistency.
Cable TV & internet? I have never heard of any program giving away these services. Utility companies and charities offer reduced rates, usually during winter months, so people don't die. In very warm areas charities give away fans and AC units.
Cell phone? These are very limited in scope with a very limited number of minutes. Most people won't qualify for a free phone.
