I hear it said by many lefties....but what is your true definition of "fair"?

It's quite simple for me.....you get back what you put into life. Nobody owes you anything simply because you exist.

"Fair" generally means "what's best for me", in most peoples minds.

"Fair" is subjective to most.

Fair: agreeing with what is thought to be right or acceptable

is of course, a subjective term in that context.

I don't see what is left or right about fair.

Fair is having the same education no matter the income level of your parents.

Fair is having the same shot at scholarships and grants based on your achievements.

Fair is having the same opportunity with the outcomes determined by your achievements, focus and effort.

I don't see how that is subjective to most.

Fair as as defined by liberals is a fantasy.
Life is not fair and artificial attempts to make it fair through social engineering and income redistribution will never work in a truly free society.
"Tax the rich, feed the poor, till there are no rich no more" was a nice flowery, hippy dippy philosophy.
But one of the things that the hippies apparently were too stoned to figure out is, who do you tax when there are no rich no more?
Well, you just change the the definition of rich down to those who are well off......
And then the middle class.....etc.

"Fair" is an illusion used by hucksters and charlatans to make things more "fair" for themselves.

Thank you for pointing that out. There are those out there who want to go with the "tough guy" approach. That approach is more or less a very jerk-like way of downplaying certain issues.

Fairness is also persons being treated according to their merit, their individual merit.
