Actually I am not involved in the ban, I actually am too busy to really care about it. But it seems to enrage a number of members on this site who live no where near NYC, which is really odd, talk about having nothing better to do.
The standard definition, over 50% of the households have at least one gun. Why do you think Portland has probably the most liberal laws re guns for an urban area of over 2 million?
Do you have anything to back that percentage up or are you just guessing?

No you're not. You're not too busy to defend it on a web forum.
And no, I don't have anything better to do than call out stupidity. I work and I deserve my pastimes, thank you.

I know the people out there. It's sort of like New Hampshire out on your east coast. Like I said, why does Portland have probably the most liberal gun laws in this country for cities over 2 million? The only possible contenders I can think of are Phoenix or Las Vegas.
One thing I missed about Detroit was how blatant everyone disregarded the laws. I remember when I got there post 2010, and sat in a hole in the wall bar/restaurant. Everyone was smoking. So I thought that time passed over Michigan and they never passed a smoking law. Took out my cigarettes, waitress comes by and slams down an ashtray and I order my food, drinks and listen to the music and have a good time.
I later look it up out of curiosity, and notice it was illegal. I thought it was a one off but after a while I noticed all the hole in the walls smoked, among other things. When I went to one of the fancier and trendier spots downtown, that actually followed the rules, I asked him why they had to play like that. He shrugged and said they were owned by an out of state company.
