I've been here for years and I'm just starting get a vague sense that right wing ideology is on the decline. Right wing posters aren't as unified anymore. Maybe some are learning they've been taken for a ride? They seem less numerous, and more elderly every year. The real dead enders, (birthers, Obama conspiracists, crusty old farts accusing liberals of being "communists") are on the borderline of being considered outcasts by what's left of mainstream conservatives. This just goes beyond the last election. I think time has finally caught up with this backwards ideology.
You don't think it is any way associated with Obama's policies and rhetoric jumping the shark?
And old school liberal ideology isn't declining and dying out even faster? Whatever happened to ban the bomb, make love, not war, feed the poor, save the environment, help the homeless? Now its a very self centered attitude of take what you can from the government, or anybody for that matter, demand whatever you think you're owed, and look the other way as long as you get what you want. And its still a platform based on ideas that just don't work and are driving the country further into debt, closer to fascist statist ideology. Its the conservatives who are keeping the government at bay, even if they aren't exactly doing a very good job.
You do know that if they ever take down conservatives and independants, you liberals will be the next to fall and go down even faster, right? You're the weakest of us all and only useful for the time being. We all have to work together to keep the government from getting too much power.
So you say.
You're confusing the 60s with liberalism.
We're not the cons, you know - regressive.
We tend to be more progressive.
Yep, we try to look at how things are today, not a mythical time gone by.
Are you kidding? There were protests against the Iraq War and the Bushies accused them as anti-American. Everything the Bush Admin did was wrapped in the U.S. flag, to the point that conservatives to use the flag as their monopoly.
Okay, that is a flat out lie, Bush never said war protesters were anti-American.
I challenge you do present proof that Bush ever refereed to war protesters as anti-American, because that's a dog that will not hunt.
Go read up on John Dewey and the Progressive Reform movement.
You claim that liberals have always controlled the youth through education. Liberal and Democrat are not mutually exclusive, but they're often used almost interchangeably in the United States. But then you say that you're not talking about Democrats or Republicans.
So maybe you should state what you're really suggesting, though I have an idea.
