This quote in particular is priceless: "Our uncles and fathers turned the Empire of the Sun and Third Reich into cinders in four years, and this generation is all wee-weed up over Mahmoud Ahmadinejad."
Another major division within the Right, currently buried under all the budget jaw-jaw: the division between conservatives (in this case, Jennifer Rubin) for whom the major foreign policy issue is Israel, and the sort Buchanan is speaking for here.

Pat Buchanan's foreign policy is second to none. I cannot ever remember disagreeing with him.

You need to re-read Buchanan's article, He is slamming Pravda on the Potomac for feigning to have a conservative thought.

No, he is slamming Jennifer Rubin for her foreign policy views: "On Monday, Rubin declared that America's 'greatest national security threat is Iran.' Do conservatives really believe this?"

Try reading past the second paragraph.
Take your own advice:
"The blog tells us what the Post regards as conservatism."
"Rubin's blog may be the Post's idea of conservatism. Ronald Reagan wouldn't recognize it."
Wow, this post has been up for a couple of hours and not a single response has called Pat an anti-Semite. Usually not declaring Israel America's top priority will bring out the Zionist hordes. Go Pat, Go!

I agree with him on foreign policy. He's right about Israel.

I sure hope not, because a lot of people will die needlessly otherwise.
It's the "Moderate Problem."
You cannot vilify a political moderate.
With Khatami as president, there is no possible way to create Hate Week for Iran, since Khatami is a moderate. To resolve that issue, the Bush Administration embarks on a plan to slam Khatami as often as possible on every issue in existence.....and do it in the world-wide media.
So the Bush Administration does everything in their power to embarrass Khatami, to make him the object of ridicule in Iran. The Iranian people see Khatami as the American people saw Carter.....weak and pathetic.
That's how Ahmadinejad got elected...he took an hard-line stance.
The problem now is that the Iranian Constitution limits presidents to 2-terms only...just like the US Constitution. There will be an election soon.....Ahmadinejad won't be running....if another moderate like Khatami gets elected.....well, that's a real serious problem for US long-term Geo-Political Strategy.
A politically strong moderate in Iran could delay the US invasion of Iran by as much as 8 years through 2021....and that brings serious negative consequences to the US in terms of its Geo-Political Strategy.
By 2021, the majority of wells will have been drilled in the Central Asian fields, and that oil (and natural gas) will be sold on the world market in basket currencies, which will cause serious harm to the US economy.
Geo-strategically....
