There is so much ignorance on this board it is disgusting.
This girl is not a tomboy, but is a girl. There have been studies that have concluded people can have biological issues with their hard wiring (read, their neurology) that makes them trapped in the opposite gender. What if you woke up tomorrow as the opposite gender? How desperately would you want to be made right? That is what they feel like.
As for this case I would say that the girl in question should be allowed to use the unisex bathroom in the nurses office and/or teacher's lounge.
And NO ONE can stop these parents from dressing their daughter up as they she sees fit. You don't like it? BIG DEAL.
For the record, if I ever had kids I would be more than okay with them being gay, straight, transgender, bi, asexual, whatever. BUT, if they EVER came into my house with any of that orthodox abrahamic religion BS there would be HELL TO PAY (no pun intended)
I would let a thousand sons wear dresses before I ever let any one of my children, who lives under my roof, worship the tyrant of the Old Testament.
That is the beauty of America: everyone can raise their kids as they see fit as long as they aren't abusing them. Don't like it? Move to Saudi Arabia or Uganda or some other uncivilized part of the world, and most importantly stay the HELL OUT OF SEATTLE.

They are allowed to. I think you mean to say that the parents should accept that solution?

I have no issue with transgender persons, nor homsexuality. I think they should have the same rights to Marry as anyone else
Yet i'm of the opinion that you don't pick your Gender, its assigned biological. it is an issue of the boy associating the womens restroom with a specific gender, and not a biological need.
Boys - you have a penis you use that restroom, regardless of gender identity and sexual orientation
The issue here is the famalies framing that the girls restroom is for "Girls" and the Boys restroom is for "boys". Maybe we should just rename the bathrooms (PENIS PEOPLE and VAGINA PEOPLE) would that make them feel better?

Then what is going on that genes are so messed up in kids today.
Something is up..is the water that polluted and we're putting that much chemicals in our bodies that fetuses are not developing properly ?
Usually there's a reason when a species starts morphing at birth.
And in the long run that can lead to extinction.
maybe this is an alternate observation: this is not new. in the past parents chose/assginded gender was an easier option to raise the child with mixed/unclear gender. The child may have grown up with that assignment not really feeling the gender chosen...whose knows what kind of dilema that was for the child.
now we have become more aware of those differences in gender. People are chosing more options than just assigning the childs gender as was done in the past.
Human gender is not a Male[XY]_Female[XX] line.
It's more like Male _____________________________ Female line. with a whole spectra of gender variations in between.
That's Human biology not fad.
