I was going to post this in the ''People of character" thread, but decided this article would get more attention in its own thread. Good read for all, why compromise is never a good idea.

From our founding, public leaders have compromised on issues. Life is all about compromise. Spoiled brats believe that compromise is a bad thing.

I agree to a point. Compromise has to be done by both sides. When one side is always the looser and the other sides keeps on coming back to the well for more than it is ok to no longer compromise.

I agree compromise is sometimes inevitable, it depends on the issue. For the most part, if you absolutely know you are right, then you should never compromise.

He's wrong. There is never a position to take here that would fit every solution.

What you do IMO is determined on your position of power. I do not want to discuss the position but I will use the gun control example. For those who argue that guns are a right they have no reason to compromise. The courts the public and the constitution is on their side.

Now let's take abortion. If you are against abortion do you decide that no compromise is acceptable so you go for a complete ban or nothing and lose, what have you gained?

If you compromise and get some sort of added restrictions have you not gained something?

Alot of people "know" they are right and fail to compromise. Those people can be identified as the party of NO!

I would agree with the conservative premiss if conservatives could verbalize exactly what they are trying to "preserve" or "conserve" with their no compromise stance.

If things are going so badly, how does not participating in the political process "conserve" anything but the status quo?

I'm old enough to realize that "wait until _____________".<<<[Insert next election cycle here], has not been a winning strategy for conservatives...Like ever.

Here's a compromise.....make gay marriage the law of the land, but criminalize abortion.

Here's another......free healthcare for all, but no more food stamps.

See how that works?

Never ever compromise your principles.

I fully understand the left doing so, since they have none.
