Does this president think we are too stupid to remember what he says, from one day to the next??

“This is not going to be an apocalypse, as some have said,” Obama told reporters, minutes after saying that “not everyone will feel the pain of these cuts right away. The pain though will be real.”

Well, well, just who were these people who over hyped the sequester? Here is a list of what “some have said:”

“Put simply, the automatic budget reduction mandated by sequestration would be disruptive and destructive to our nation’s security and economy,” Department of Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano said in a White House press briefing last week. “It would negatively affect the mission readiness and capabilities of the men and women on our frontlines. It would undermine the significant progress we’ve made over the past 10 years to build the nation’s preparedness and resiliency.”

Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood predicted major disruption to the nation’s flight system. “Flights to major cities like New York, Chicago, and San Francisco and others could experience delays of up to 90 minutes during peak hours because we have fewer controllers on staff,” LaHood told the White House press corps. “Delays in these major airports will ripple across the country. Cuts to budgets mean preventative maintenance and quick repair of runway equipment might not be possible, which could lead to more delays. And once airlines see the potential impact of these furloughs, we expect that they will change their schedules and cancel flights.”

And of course who can forget the apocalyptic doom predicted by 0bama himself almost two weeks ago:

“It will eviscerate job-creating investments in education and energy and medical research…. Emergency responders like the ones who are here today — their ability to help communities respond to and recover from disasters will be degraded. Border Patrol agents will see their hours reduced. FBI agents will be furloughed. Federal prosecutors will have to close cases and let criminals go. Air traffic controllers and airport security will see cutbacks, which means more delays at airports across the country. Thousands of teachers and educators will be laid off. Tens of thousands of parents will have to scramble to find childcare for their kids. Hundreds of thousands of Americans will lose access to primary care and preventive care like flu vaccinations and cancer screenings…. So these cuts are not smart. They are not fair. They will hurt our economy. They will add hundreds of thousands of Americans to the unemployment rolls. This is not an abstraction — people will lose their jobs. The unemployment rate might tick up again.”

It seems to me that the more stupid a given person is, they have a tendency to believe others are more stupid than they are. Hence, a never ending spiral toward the end of the sewer pipe.

You know, the problem with the sequester is that it is happening now. It's too bad it isn't closer to the election. No doubt it will be a dead issue when elections come around.

If Republicans knew what was good for them, they'd harp on this till the cows come home. Just like Democrats do to us about the war on women and racism and corporate welfare and all that. They've drummed their lies into the American consciousness. We never do the same.

Obama has been a bonanza of lies and failures but none of them stick.

Well he keeps getting away with it so I think he's correct in his opinion that most folks in this country are stupid. Hell it was vindicated by him winning election last year. Sure some of us see through his nonsense but many just go along reading the headlines and lip service. I have to think they are amazed at what they are getting away with now in DC. It will only get worse.

Considering that Obama's million dollar golf game with Tiger Woods cost the same as 341 federal employees being furloughed, $250 billion extra dollars would cover every penny being saved by reducing the pay of federal workers.... and then some.

looking back at all the random interviews and the over all awareness meter....I'd put my chips in that 80 % of Obama's congregation have never even heard the word sequestration or spending cuts. They don't care unless its about the freebies or whatever they think is a trendy way to think or something.
