It seems many politicians are jumping on the bandwagon by coming up with all kinds of things in an effort to make themselves look good. While some have honest intentions, I think some are just trying to earn brownie points by whatever looks like the flavor of the month.
To buy ammo you must take anger management classes. This is just plain silly
"The bill filed Saturday by state Sen. Audrey Gibson, D-Jacksonville, would require a three-day waiting period for the sale of any firearm and the sale of ammunition to anyone who has not completed anger management courses. The proposal would require ammo buyers to take the anger management courses every 10 years."
That is nonsense. Properly implemented universal background checks, on the other hand, are common sense. And they're done by most other well-off countries, including ones with lots of gun owners, like Switzerland.
Not that Im in favor of this lunatic proposal, but got me wondering...Why don't folk complain about taking a conceal carry course? Isn't that a government mandated restriction on gun ownership?

Those laws will vary by state, here in PA a concealed carry permit is issued by the Sheriff. There are no requirements except you be 21 and can legally own a firearm. These are usually issued immediately after the background check at least in my County.

The sheriff has 45 days to conduct an investigation to determine an individual's eligibility to be issued a license. Included in the investigation is a background check conducted on the individual through the Pennsylvania Instant Check System (PICS) to determine if the records indicate the individual is prohibited by law. In accordance with 18 PA C.S. §6109, a sheriff may deny an individual the right to a License to Carry Firearms if there is reason to believe that the character and reputation of the individual are such that they would be likely to act in a manner dangerous to public safety.
If the PICS check is approved and the subject is of good character, the sheriff may issue a License to Carry Firearms. The issuance of a License to Carry Firearms allows individuals to carry a firearm concealed on or about their person, or in a vehicle throughout this Commonwealth. The license is valid for a period of five (5) years unless sooner revoked.
A lot of people get these just to avoid the issues of transporting a weapon in a vehicle. If you don't have a concealed permit it has to be unloaded, bullets inaccessible etc.
Universal background checks discriminate against poor people. Why should their rights be denied, simply because they're not people of means?
its the 2013 equivelant of a poll tax.
Colorado in their frenzy to destroy the Constitution, was trying to come up w/a fee to be passed on to the gun buyer for the background check.
no fee = no gun.
= poll tax.
poll tax was determined to be a burdon on poor people.
poll tax = racist.
racism = democrats best friend.
