NYC Soda Ban: The first-of-its-kind rules have a giant loophole.

According to slate.com NYC mayor Mike Bloomberg's efforts to ban high-capacity soda containers have loopholes big enough to drive a mack truck thru.

What an outrage! You'll still be able to get all the soda you wish. Not to mention that it only takes a second to drop an empty 16 oz. can and pop the top from a fresh can (no need for a cumbersome 'church key' like when I was a kid).

Close the soda show loophole, and ban high capacity soda containers!!!!!!

Can you imagine the outrage if a person was caught drinking soda from a 2L bottle, while smoking a cigarette in a car and driving through a red signal at a revenue camera intersection.

Odds are that this person will only be a burden to the non idiots until the age of 30...40 at the most.

Wonder why he doesn't just ban Diet and Zero calorie soda instead....
They actually have harmful ingredients.

They can't. Bloomberg can only rule city laws, not state or national laws.

Establishments regulated by the state don't' fall under Bloomberg's ban.
7-11 has a super big gulp now..64 oz
And you can get a super large milkshake that is not "banned" anywhere.

Bloomberg's "ban" is more symbolic than real and the ones hurting will be the restaurants, movie theaters, fast food, etc. that fall under NYC regulations.

It's no "loophole". It's just that Bloomberg's authority is only for the "city".

You want his type of authority over everything in NYC then go elect him as Governor.

So is this meant to be a fake outrage thread? Anyone who understands the law could of told you this. It isn't really a ban on soda, it is just a regulation on soda in some places.
